well actually sucha random thingie was something i always wanted, there were quite a lot of fantasy mods for civ2. but if you build your first town, you never know how much truth is in the rumors about falling from the edges of the world and those dragons, goblins and wizards. i really would like a game, where you find out the shape of the world by scientific/magical means and the question if going for magical fireballs or nukes, undead armies or biological warfare in your research will only be answered by trying which of them works and which not,

SMAC is the game most like this that I've played - at least the first (and only) time I played it, then I didn't know what was coming, and it was fun because of that.
