Some files corrupted?
I tried to download a zip from the Civ strategy forum, but can't open it... other zips are working good, and this particular file has been downloaded several times without anyone reporting a problem. Did something go wrong on the 'poly servers? Or is this a problem on my pc?

So... no-one is interested in trying the zip out to see if the problem is with 'poly or with me? It's been over a day now, and I still can't access it
Can someone please try and tell me what happened?

It's working fine. You just need to rename the file from X .zip.php to X .zip. The PHP file extension is added by the PHP script that handles all file downloads. No worries.

Well... I did that of course... the strange thing is that other zips I tried downloading yesterday from 'poly did work, but for some reason the 3 in that thread refuse to open. I don't understand it...
Thanks for the help, BTW

Other strange things... I can't open the file with winRar (instead of winZip), and downloading it with IE instead of Mozilla doesn't help either.

You're welcome.
I checked the files now by downloading them and fixing the file extensions, before trying to open the files with PowerArchiver. Apparently the problem is in the ZIP archives themselves. Most likely they have become corrupted during the compression or somehow after that. At least it wasn't caused by a virus or worm infection as I just checked that too. I suggest you ask the one who posted the files to send them again. And do also ask him to compress the again.

In that case it is a 'poly problem, as the files have been downloaded 20 times before without problems. But I'll ask the original poster if he still has a copy, I guess that will be the easiest solution indeed.
thanks,

Markos, if you're referring to the new copy alexman posted, you are right, however the old files didn't change... but no worries, I've got what I wanted, leave the others as they are
