Question about war!
Hey...
Well I started a game with the max number of civ on a huge world blabla bla ...
ok.. so now I'm in 1400AD there has been NO war so far.. all the civ are like... in peace and everything is good, people are happy!
What the hell... will there be any war before the end of the game ?

Well, why aren't you declaring war then?
I'm playing a 24 palyer huge game and it's like 850 AD and I think only a few countries have stayed out of the massive war (and I'm trying to bring them in to drag them down to my level).

other people have said the ai is more passive. But I doubt it. I think they made the ai tougher. The ai might be far apart. If they are far enough apart there is less desire for the ai to declare war imho.

It varies game to game...
Soren said once that the AI civs "respond to their environment" in regards to war.
We also 'believe' that up to their respective OCN, the AI civs are more focused on building than aggression, so, depending on the map, I can envision ongoing peace.
I'm with Warpstorm... mix it up!!!

Whole earth in peace? Wait until one declares war or do it yourself. Then speak with a couple of nations that they help you. Your enemy will do the same, then the Allies on the one or other side will decleare war against some other nations and the whole earth lies in War and Chaos for all times. I often observed that I was the beginner of a very very very bad world ;-)
Then make piece with all, of course they will fight without you and then you can go to builder-mode and watching the world burn.

I think if the map is too big there won't be enough geographical pressures on the AI civs to make them want/need to start a war. I'm using a 180x180 map with 24 civs, which makes things slightly crowded, and they were definitely fighting well before 1 AD.
What size map are you using - the default huge or a custom huge?

Strange. My very first game of Civ3 was like that; 16 civs all living in peace well into the middle ages. Then I got greedy (needed some resource... can't remember what) and went after one other civ. Suddenly world war broke out, and there wasn't a single turn of peace the rest of the game.
So maybe you just need to throw some fire on the fuel, so to speak, if you want some conflict.

I would suggest planting one of your units in "friendly" territory, just inside your neighbor's border, and don't remove him. That way, you're not really starting the war, and the AI opponents will still trust you to trade, etc. Otherwise, it's embargo city.
Q: What the hell does "Sentry" do vs. "Fortify" in PTW?
Anyone?

As long as the AI has; no problems with happiness
, all the resources,---> you are more likely to get a peacefull game.
@pitbull: sentry; unit 'wakes up' when a enemy unit comes in view

I used to think this was the case, until one night im playing a huge map with 2 Human and 6 AI (limit of 8 "Players" in MP) and the AI decides its going to declare war on me even though we are NO WHERE NEAR
each other, and they have tons of space to expand.
Ive also noticed this when playing 31 AI vs Me games.
Something needs to be tweaked as far as the AI declaring war, when in actuallity there is no way for them to reach you. (They dont have map making, across ocean, declare war on me.. WTF! they cant even GET to me..) that kind of thing
Sidenote:
That brings up the issue of civ contact, that every civ
knows where every other civ is, due to trading contacts.. leads (at least for me) to wars being declared all over the place even though there is no "real" contact
between our countries. (This is all in BC, early AD, later game i could see, cause thats true to life)

Have you tried espionage and botched attempts after signed an MPP deal? I would think botched espionage would cause other civs to declare war and activate the MPP.

Yea.. well in fact I was tired of this peace... so I signe MPP with the top 5 civ except the top1 (im ranked 3rd) and I declared war on the top1 ... man... the WHOLE world went at war against him... the only problem was that he was.. well.. hella strong ... and 3 civ on the same continent as him got ass raped... I decided to turn on my allies cause they were now weak, and with the ++ cities, units I got I've been able to kill the guy... easy game :P
