Are the maps different in PTW? They look more interesting
I've been playing a PTW. Single player. And once thing that struck me as I play is that the maps are more dramatic and interesting. Or so it seems.

I just do all random settings (except I choose a tiny or small map.) And even the starting position looks more interesting.

Is it just my perception, or is there a difference. (I don't mod or do any of that. Just play the game as is.)

I really like PTW.

Well they certainly to get larger, if you have a good computer. I tried for awhile playing at 362 x 362, 8 civs, but even at the beginning of the game the wait time was long. Just a bit to much for my lowly Celeron 400 I guess.

I haven't noticed any real difference yet, but I only got it yesterday, and so far I've just been reworking my mod. I sure like some of the features in the new editor, especially the unit movement options.

What unit movement options? Tell me.

BTW, can you give a unit 0 movement points like in CTP 2 so that you can build units that are city defense only?

Don't ICBM's have 0 movement? They can't be moved from the city where they are built.

Well it's not a major deal but I like it. You can set each unit type to override the movement penalty of any terrain. For instance, the Mongols have a horse unit that ignores the 3 moves required for Mountains and travels just as if that terrain were Grassland. I have two Medieval horse units, including the Knight, and now my Horse Archer can travel on Hills much better than the Knight can. It makes him more valuable.

You can also select which terrain is impassable to wheeled units, or even select a terrain to be impassable to all of them. I've discovered that this comes in really handy for preventing Galleys and Ironclads from crossing the ocean. I've made Ocean impassable to wheeled units, then selected the "Wheeled" flag for those two units. Works great, no Galleys on the open ocean anymore, and Ironclads are forced to stick to the coast. This will makke Frigates etc. much more valuable.

And yes, you always could have a 0 move unit.

The random map generator has been tweaked with previous patches so this might be the case

Can't wait for PTW to be released in Sweden

well, actually, there are two types of historical ironclads;
The Union Navy's Monitor class and Ship of the line type.
The Monitors weren't to seaworthy. The Ship-of-the-Line type were sail or steam frigates or Galleons that had Iron plates that were seaworthy
