Other Information:

New Apolyton, which was named after an Internet discussion forum on Old Earth, is the oldest city in UN territory, and indeed one of the oldest on Planet, having been founded in the early days after Planetfall. As such, while the city has grown a great deal since then, the old northeastern area of the city retains the cramped, makeshift air of the early days. Most of the district has now been purchased by the tourist industry, which organizes courses for those who want to experience life as it was then.

Since those early days, New Apolyton has advanced enormously. It’s economic output is now second only to Tacticus Academy and Concordia (and this will soon change with the construction of the Longevity Vaccine), the second largest research output, the world’s highest nutrient surplus, the world’s most extensive infrastructure, the largest social welfare fund in the world, and the world’s highest GDP per capita. Although industrial output has not spectacularly grown since it’s astounding level of 36 megatons in MY 2202, it remains second only to Deus Ex Machina, and the production processes have been upgraded out of all recognition, greatly reducing the need for supply crawlers and entirely eliminating pollution. New Apolyton is also the site of an experimental factory designed to eliminate the need to transfer products and resources from one plant to another, by containing all of the necessary factories within a single complex. Other bases have begun to follow suit, notably Tacticus Academy and Deus Ex Machina, both of which have their own under construction.

New Apolyton has also managed to achieve a number of number of ‘firsts’ during its history; Planet’s first Secret Project, the Weather Paradigm, was built here, as were the UN’s first aerospace complex and first Needlejet, and Planet’s first satellite was sent into orbit from the New Apolyton Space Centre. New Apolyton currently has the largest aerospace industry in the world, largely created by the demand for aircraft for the Hive war, and which is expected to be further stimulated by the era of space exploration that has just begun.

The city also houses the main server of the Virtual World, which is the prime form of recreation for much of the UN population and which saves the government enormous amounts of revenue by greatly reducing the cost of installing hologram theatres, and the ethical code of the ‘Ascetic Virtues’, which have markedly decreased unrest about foreign military deployments and cramped housing, were developed here.

Recently, the city has seen a substantial influx of Morganite immigrants, similar (although, at first, smaller) to the one that entered Tacticus Academy, lured by the huge potential returns on investments here and the high standard of living. This influx has increased greatly since the beginning of the Longevity Vaccine project was announced, with its promise to generate huge wealth in New Apolyton. A number of new housing facilities have been constructed specifically to provide accommodations for them, many of which are now also occupied by the wealthier UN citizens, among them DLP leader and current Governor Archaic.

Other Information:

ThisBaseIsBelongToUs is the smallest and probably the least important of the original four bases in Centralis. With only 100 000 citizens, it does not even require the Hab complex that was recently built here, although part of the reason for this low population was that approximately 10% of the population recently departed to build a seabase form which to strike at the Hive. The city was named after a famous fad phrase on Old Earth, and though some have argued that the name should be changed, it has stuck.

Despite it’s long record as being a relatively unimportant base compared to the others in Centralis, this trend has recently shown some signs of changing, as installation of a Fusion Lab and the upcoming completion of a Hybrid Forest, along with the boreholes planned for the base, promise to substantially expand industry and economic output here.

Other Information:

Tacticus Academy, the base named after the current Commissioner and Centralis Governor (and the site of a famous military and geopolitical academy of the same name, which turns out more military officers and government planners than any other training school in the UN), is without a doubt one of the most affluent bases on Planet. With a GDP per capita of more than 778.5 megawatts (which, however, is in fact a decline from before; this has led to some immigrants leaving for Concordia or the more business-friendly New Apolyton), behind only Concordia and New Apolyton.

Although New Apolyton, with its smaller population and larger welfare fund, outstrips TA in GDP per capita, it is still lower in the area of overall GDP. Total energy production per annum is 84 000 gigawatts, with a surplus of 60 000; this amounts to 9.7% of the net factional budget and 9.4% of gross economic output. This is also greater than the annual economic output of most other factions save the Morganites, whose growth has outstripped that of the UN in recent years.

As a result of this massive economy, along with reasons of convenience (the Governor lives there), Tacticus Academy became the new capital of Centralis for some time (it was moved back to New Apolyton for the convenience of the new governor Archaic), although sadly energy waste continued as before, consuming more than 10% of total economic output.

Industry, while less dominant in Tacticus Academy than it has been previously, remains an important part of the base, with the vast automated factories of the Primary Production Zone in the eastern area producing 34 megatons of various products per annum. This section of the base, however, has changed almost beyond recognition in the past few years: gone are the polluting factories and huge smokestacks that caused more environmental damage than anywhere else in the faction; they have been replaced by sleekly efficient complexes that recycle nearly every scrap of waste produced and either send it back into the production process or else collect it and sell it to other firms who can employ it for themselves. IT has also seen the arrival of the New Apolytonian concept of a completely self-contained factory, which is starting to be applied on a massive scale. One of the primary reasons for this huge change was the construction of Planet’s first Centauri Preserve here a few years ago, which provided great insights into the way in which Planet’s ecosystem functioned, and encouraged the TA business community to emulate it to some extent. This emulation has been extraordinarily successful as industry goes; nothing is wasted, pollution has vanished, and profits have skyrocketed since. The Centauri Preserve has also brought in a number of tourists from other bases and factions, particularly Akiria and the Gaians.

Other Information:

The base of Antioch was originally thought of by and named after the UN’s first Commissioner, the Christian fundamentalist E.L. Crisler. Following his retirement from politics, he moved here along with most of the other members of the Fundamentalist Faction and established a large community of conservative Christians who today form the overwhelming majority here. This has resulted in Antioch becoming the only base on Planet where Christian theology and religion are openly and widely discussed. However, it has also resulted in the base being one without the fun and parties that occur in many other UN cities; few bars and clubs exist at all, and those that do are heavily regulated. The composition of the base population has also resulted in a number of demonstrations against aspects of government policy, particularly those regarding genetics. Officials from the Research department have privately expressed worry over what will happen when the development of Retroviral Engineering goes public; some have even predicted and open revolt.

Regional Trends:

The primary trend in Centralis development to date has been the decentralisation of industry from New Apolyton, resulting in a dramatic decline in pollution from the city, the continuing move of foreign commerce out of the region as others develop (although recently Centralis has seen some increase in commerce, with the opening of trade with the Gaians and University, declining again with the conquest of the University by the Hive), a major program for the construction of Recreation Commons, Network Nodes, and other essential facilities, and the reaching (and then elimination) of the current population limits.

A second trend, which has been watched closely by the present administration, is that of a continuing migration of important citizens north in Jedinica Vrijstaat, though as the majority in this migration appear to be CCCP and STEP party members moving to Pandemonium, the DLP government has not been particularly concerned.

Tourist Information:

Centralis contains numerous tourist attractions, which are varied enough to satisfy almost anyone.
- The more technologically minded can visit the hub of the Virtual World, located in New Apolyton.
- Those of a more nature-loving persuasion may wish to visit Sherwood Forest, which spans the region and extends all the way to Akiria in the south and Concordia in the north, and is the largest on Planet; the heart of the forest is completely pristine and untouched by industry.
- Those with an interest in history may visit the New Apolyton Government Palace, built in the early years after planetfall and the seat of UN government to this day.
- Religious visitors could do worse than to visit Antioch; one of the more prosperous bases in the UN, it also contains a strong Christian community, due to the influence of Crisler, the first UN commissioner, who established a theological school here shortly after the base’s founding. Those looking for fun and parties, however, should steer clear of here; such activities are generally frowned upon in Antioch, with few nightclubs or bars in town and those that exist being heavily regulated. The main forms of local recreation are sport, with prayer being the primary occupation on Sundays.
- Politically minded tourists are encouraged to stop by at the famous Tacticus Academy, which specializes in military and geopolitical topics and is located in the base of the same name. It is officially owned by regional governor and Commissioner General Tacticus, but is generally managed by his deputy, Professor Mohammed Raviri. The main topic for discussion recently has been the plans put forward for a more active war against the Hive; while most are in favour of it generally, there is little agreement as to how the war should be carried out specifically.

Past Policy Aims

3) The elimination of unnecessary colony pod production plants and the transfer of this responsibility to other regions.

4) The installation of a Network Node a every base in the faction.

5) To develop the area to the north & northwest of Tacticus Academy into a primary food supply area via condensers; the food produced here supports 140 000 citizens, although one seventh of the eventually planned production is earmarked for Concordia.

6) The construction of energy banks in every base in the region, to speed up economic development (soon to be achieved).

7) The implementation of a program to install Research Hospitals in every base in the region, both in order to improve public health and to attract a large class of technicians and medical scientists to the regions, thus speeding up scientific research.

8) The construction of Hab Complexes in every base in the region, in order to permit further population growth.

9) The large-scale privatisation of most government property; this has been mainly sold off to investment funds, which represent the only way that most people without very high-paying jobs can afford to cash in on the program. The transition has been mostly orderly and has not caused any social disruption, apart from the substantial numbers of people in TBIBTU and Antioch campaigning for the recall of exploration vessels.

10) A much greater regional contribution to the UN military, mainly in the field of air power.

Present and Future Development Plans:

The regional administration currently has six major policy aims:

1) The continuing elimination of xenofungus fields to make way for forestry and agriculture.

2) A program for the construction of a number of Boreholes, to speed up industrial and economic development.

4) An extensive advertising campaign aimed at Morganite businessmen, encouraging them to move to Centralis and bring their money with them, and stressing the point that Centralis is the wealthiest area on Chiron, and the government has no intention of changing this. The campaign’s success increased markedly since a Free Market was approved as the faction’s official economic policy, and the Morganite immigrant community has expanded considerably to include more than ten thousand people, mostly living in New Apolyton and Tacticus Academy.

5) A program for the construction of Biology Labs and Centauri Preserves in every base in Centralis, to accelerate scientific progress and increase our understanding of the fungal neural network.

EDIT: My revision of the info displayed above turn out to be a bit long, so I'm commandeering this post to include it.

Miscellaneous Facts & Statistics:

Centralis contains 7 out of 10 of all UN Secret Projects, almost all located in New Apolyton. With 560 000 citizens, it is the second most populous region in the UN, behind Jedinica Vrijstaat, with 630 000. With Hab complexes now constructed in all bases that require them, the growth in the population in Centralis is likely to continue for some time.

The region is quite light on formers, containing only 8, out of a total of 59 faction-wide, but this is expect to change as the new Governor, Archaic, has announced a program which will massively increase the number of formers in the region.

Finally, the region also produces 27.9 % of the faction’s gross GNP, and 27.6 % of its net GNP - thus, although the rise in economic output from other regions has lessened Centralis’ relative production, it is still contributing more to the UN economy than any other region, with TA & NA, taken together, 18.6% of gross economic output and 19.3% of net economic output.

One thing: Where do you all get the information "What happens when FM is introduced" from? Doesn´t the constitiution say "Nobody may play ahead"? Or do you count the figures out of mathematic formula?

No, because the amount Concordia takes is trivial compared to the area's eventual production target, and Concordia needs the food in any case.

As DPO and in accordance with wish of population as expressed in the most recent Command Nexus thread discussion, I request Commisioner and GT (as Gov) to look at prototyping a plasma police defensive into the build Queue of New Apolyton earlier than planned. For two reasons:

New Apolyton is woefully undefended bearing in mind its status,
It has a fast build capability.
We need one of our bases to prototype this unit ASAP.

a similar request will be issued to Twin Seas region re New Suez.

Note:
A base in Pande's region is prototyping the plasma police sentinel.
