Perfect Combination!
As a very old civ fan - old amiga user- as the years go by I see all the new titles coming out trying to find that perfect strategy game that would really make a difference.

So my proposal would be a combination of a civ game with a total war game ( I assume anyone playing civ has an idea of total war games) would really keep me going for many many years to come!! Is that possible you might ask??? well.....

If you really think of it ,since playing civ 1 on Amiga 500 so many years ago it should be very realistic to play the next civ 4! which could include the above comparison on a P4 whatever with 512mbs memory!!

It seems to me that the machines have gone too far and games development has stayed behind!

SO maybe we should start being more demanding as far as game development is concerned...

thanks

Koukos

But civ isn't a war game, its a game of building , with war in it.....

there is no one aspect of civ that doens't require another elelment to make it work.

Welcome Kouko!

Well, civ is a builder's game with a lots of wars going on! The key is the combination, although it lacks in depth on the military aspect it is the combination that make this game a winner!

So long...

blah even though there are many elements most of the game play occurs by military units and build queues to support the units by making people happy. it feels too much that the game is about conquest , even with the new culture features. it abates it but earlier civ games felt even more about conquest

It is true in the real world that the most powerful countries get powerful and stay powerful by beating down the countries that oppose them. Civ as it is realistically reflects this.

True, I think about that a lot. If you remember what a commodore64 could do with 64K memory and a 1MHz processor, today's computers and software are totally underwhelming.

star wars rebellion was kinda like this, but the combat was kinda confusing and had high learning curve so i usually went with automatic combat.

Consoles have the same problem. The PS2 is a lot more powerful than it needs to be to run the software that is released on that platform.

If anything the increase in power has made software makers lazy.

Or should I say mis-guided. It's all about great graphics now and the content suffers. There are a lot of great games with cheesy graphics, but the reverse is never true.

I am a progmmer for a gaming company and I once sugjested somthing like this, but we found that because of the size of the company we where not willing to spend that much time and money on a very experimental game. So right now it is on the shelves.

hi ,

and because of that there shall be no money to be made from an other great game , .......

look at some of the old stuff thats inside civ3 , while in the entire industry there are plenty of new and great innovations , ......

the only think thats good is that the basic and leading programmer for the AI is a guy who knows what he is doing , but if they only would have let him do a couple of things he wanted to do , .............

and then to say that most of such deals are being made by people who never have played a game , .......

have a nice day

UMM I didn't get a word of what you just said. Also in the game we had civ 3 + attack front maniger + a Close combat type game + a FPS. Unfortunitly I think it would take about 100 programers a couple years to make it, and my tiny company only has 3, 7 man programing teams. It would take us an outragous amount of time and we wouldn't make any games so no cash flow.
