Bug, or do the AIs do OCCs?
The first time this happened I figured I would just forget about it, but now, two games later, it's happened again. I'm playing mass regicide, continents, about 7 civs. Only, the Spanish aren't growing. They don't build settlers and apparently they never leave their territory.
This happened in an earlier game with the Germans. I know they weren't at war with settlers getting killed because they didn't have contact with anyone. The pop of their capitols did go up and down like they were pop rushing stuff; they were obviously building improvements becuase they had a good bit of culture, and when I finally attacked them they had plenty of spearmen.
So what is this, are they doing one city challenges or what? Has anyone else seen this?

P.S. this continued for a long time. It was late Middle Ages, and mid Industrial when I finished them off.

The AI doesn't really understand the new Regicide or Elimination modes. It tends to build tons of units in its capital as the main approach to these modes. Soren, please put some smarts in these modes too. I know you have it in ya.

Definately a bug. The AI is placing too much value on the protection of the king to expand. A better balance of priorities needs to be found.

They said all along that the new modes were meant for multiplayer, and that the AI was not been enhanced to deal with the new modes.
I'd rather see general AI improvements (see alexman's thread in the Strategy forum: http://www.apolyton.com/forums/showt...threadid=67384 ) than any tailoring of the AI for what are meant to be multiplayer modes.

I noticed that too, since then I only play Regicide. On a 24 map, you still get at least a couple of AI states that won't pull their thumb out an get stuck in though.
