Cities need to be close enough to the palace/forbidden palace to get above 1 gold/shield. A distant city with a courthouse that takes it above 1 gold/shield will get the best effect because the courthouse reduces corruption by 25%. Having one of these cities go from 1 shield to 4-5 shields can be quite a transformation as building other city improvements and troops becomes feasible. It's still a corrupt cesspit, but at least the city is no longer almost totally useless.

Thanks for the Link Alva, at least i know now where to build courthouses and that they are not always useless, but the main point stays the same:
It should make a difference IMO if i build a courthouse or not in citys with a max corruption (95% or higher like explained in the thread as effect of max number of citys)
Are you guys never building MUCH citys in some of your games at least, reaching a border/limit of gameplay due to this rules about corruption?
But perhaps its just because i like most in the game the beginning where you are spreading out, growing your empire, making some war, founding some citys...I just love this part .....and then this part has to stop because of max number of citys
...so probably its my gamestyle why i dont like courthouses...

Usualy when you get to the point that courthouses have no more effect (combined with policestations), the game game is probably more then won

I have to admit that in most cases you are right
but at this point there is also in most of the cases still a lot of work to do

those pesky courhouses are practically useless unless you're in democracy... in which case they might give you 1-2 shields less in corruption. Not good enough I say... esp. in a democracy. I have always wondered what they do under communism though. anyone know? I somehow remember reading that it caused an unhappy citizen to be happy... but that doesn't make to much sense...

"The pursuit of resources was a key element in empire building.......but offshore empires are hard to hold on to. Besides you can do it in civ3 with the Forbidden Palace"

Do I even need to reply to this? It's overseas, and unless the Forbidden Palace is a lot closer, may not make a difference. Unless you have the forbidden palace overseas, in which case it would take roughly 400 turns.

I don't agree with improving Courthouses they are fine the way the are. They are useful, the best way to get an overseas town productive and high up the build list for a new town overseas.

hi ,

we should have something like a jail , also we should have the option to let courthouses and police stations play a role in cities around that dont have them , .....

have a nice day
