What Doesn't Kill You...
"What doesn't kill you only makes you stronger."
- Old proverb

"What doesn't kill you just makes you an easier target next time."
- Recent proverb

The Mall,
London, England
The Third Reich
December 7th, 2002

Pete Brown stood in the crowd, watching the procession edge closer.

Adolf Hitler, 113 years old, rode in the back of the armoured Mercedes limo, SS troops flanking him on all sides.

Pete brought the newspaper up, as if comparing the face on the paper to that he was seeing.

But in actual fact he was gripping the pistol underneath the newspaper, and bringing it to bear.

He fired, the gun making little noise due to the silencer. But it still made a noise, and those around him turned to look at him. Time to get away.

As he looked back, he saw that the bullet had hit the window of the car, scaring Hitler but not even beginning to cause a threat to his safety, and now the car was speeding off.

He pushed his way through the crowd, and since most were still trying to figure out what was going on, was managing to stay ahead of those beginning to chase him.

He took off the wig and purple tinted glasses, and shoved them inside the paper with the gun, dumping them in the first litter bin he came to. Then he quickly took off his coat and reversed it.

Next came the trousers(pants for Americans). He pulled at the legs hard, and the trousers came away in his hands, as planned. Underneath were normal jeans, and he threw the pieces of material over a fence. He then ripped off the covers that were on his trainers, that made them look like shoes. He threw those into a bin he was passing, then pulled the collar up on his coat.

He turned and headed back into the crowd, unrecognisable now, and watched as the security forces rushed towards him from the way he had ran.

He checked his watch. Part 2 should have been completed by now, explaining the rush of the security forces back into the crowd.

**************************************

As the car sped away, a button was pressed by another agent in the crowd.

This linked to two remote controlled catches, one on each side of the road on telephone poles.

They held in place a line that was carefully lined up with the runners it would go through..

When they let it go, the line began to plummet straight down the runners as it should.

When it reached the right height, the agent pressed the button again, and the catches engaged once more.

The line was actually made of titanium, and had a blade sharpened to atomic level on the side facing the limo. It had been installed by workers that were supposedly helping to install the lights that would be used to so much effect tonight, or so the organisers had hoped.

The limo hit the line at about sixty or seventy miles per hour, and while it was a huge armoured hulk, it had been designed to take impact from a bullet or a bomb - much bigger than the blade that it was presented with.

Like a cheese-cutter, the line cut deep into the limo, held in place by the extra-strong runners, and the extra weight added to the poles by sewer workers, who just like the light workers who installed the line could never be traced.

One second the limo had a roof, and the occupants had heads.

The next, the limo didn't have a roof, and the occupants had been decapitated.

Hitler was dead.

Just a teaser!

Comments appreciated!

More to come soon!

Thanks

Forgive my asking but WHAT are you talking about?

Is this going to be a story?

EDIT probably a silly question as this is a stories forum.

Nice intro, looking forward to the rest of this story.

By the way, cbraund, something that's been bothering me for a while... what on earth is that thing in your avatar?

Guitardude, why don't you know? cbraund's avatar is an ancient fanny-wacker used by the french pygmies living in the Black Forest in the 1400's.
