This is for europeans
How many europeans have actually gotten PtW yet? I decided after the bugfest of the opriginal civ3 release that I won't buy PtW (or any other game) until the first patch is out.

Now you see my problem....

Can someone PLEASE explain to me why an american and european PC game cannot be compatible (which makes MP sucking). I mean it's not like it's a console!

So on civ3.com there's no euro patch, which I'm sure is killing the european firaxis market. Now I here that the spanish are way pissed off at Infograms for making a translation which stinks of ice. (OK, that's Infogram's problem and not Firaxis').

ANYWAY, does anybody know when the euro patch will come out? This isn't exactly the best marketing strategy on earth.

Actually, the patch for the German version is already out. I haven't tried MP yet, however.......

You can get the European patch from http://www.infogrames.de/productpage.php?productID=218#. There is an English-language version, and a German version - so make sure you get the correct one.

...the us and the european ptw-versions seem to be compatible (I've got the us-version and have been able to play against owners of the german version). this might change quickly if IG-Europe does not translate the patches (as with 1.29 )

the patches are translated! There is an American, European, and German version of the 1.14f patch! Spanish won't be far away, and the Japanese version will also be released soon so stop whining. The real problem is that damn lag.

I actually meant the patches that will be released in the next months...it isn't surprising that IG-Europe did translate the 1.14 patch...they just started selling ptw

Hmm, trouble concerning patches isn't a problem here in Sweden, the biggest problem here is that the game isn't released yet...

And NO I'm not going to spend as much money for shipping as the game itself costs by ordering it from abroad. Why oh why is it so hard to print some copies and put them on the shelves?? The only thing they have to translate is the text on the back of the box. But perhaps that text is very hard to translate to swedish...

If you got the UK version of PtW, then v1.14 patch is available from infogrames.co.uk, I think it was a 10.2MB download...

Panag- UK English is proper plain English...

US English is almost identical except they seem to miss out the letter 'u' amongst other spelling errors... but what is this EU English? How they speak English on the continent? Th becomes Z, w becomes v, yeah become ja, perhaps?
i.e. Ze Celt peoples vill rise again, ja?

lol

You mean PTW have actually been released in some European countries? I have yet to see the box on the shelves...

But until that day, I'm happy I don't have the patch trouble, since....ehmmm.... I got the US-version of the game on the internet (Got tired of waiting for it to be released)...

AFAIK, there is no difference between the US- and the UK-Versions of Civ3/ptw...except the copy protection...the EU-Engl.-Version is the UK-version...it also has been distributed in continental Europe. btw...for all of you who have the UK-Version of civ3 -but no ptw yet. There might be soon many copies of uk-ptw on ebay etc.: In Germany both ptw-versions (uk and german) were distributed together for one price...on different CDs. I could imagine that many of those who only need the German version will soon try to sell their second CD.

I have English Civ3 and bought the German PtW, they are compatible...I have a regular CtD when PtW looks for a swordsman animation file (the German PtW looks for some Schwertkämpfer.xyz file while the English file is of course swordsman.xyz).

Downloading the German PtW patch from infogrames.de right now, thx for the link .
