can't re-install
hi

i've been trying to re-install civ3 but when i insert cd i get the option to play or re-install....if i try re-installing it ask if i want to remove the files which it acts like its doing..

if i go to registry and remove civ3 references i get option to install but when i try i still get messege asking if i want to remove files......


help

hi ,

uninstall , then look manually for files with names like , infogrames , civ , civilization , firaxis , etc , ..... delete them , dont forget the patch , reboot , re-install

hi

i did everything and nothing worked..i tried removing from registry and registry cleaners from norton system works..no help.

i pulled out a copy of ontrack system suite 4 and used their registry cleaner and editor.....i also used the install monitor for good measure and it finally installed..

hi ,

disable norton to start with , you must look manually true search , ......

have you tried to see everything is okay with your OS have you tried diskcontrol yet

i mean't for some reason with using ontrack i was able finally to install

Not sure why you would have to do a reg clean for that. For a clean install, normally I just uninstall and then delete the folder. Anyway good you got it installed

That's normal. You have to uninstall first, then reinstall. I'm not sure why they did it that way, but that's how it works.

hi ,

if you do a manual search after the uninstall , you shall find a lot of files with names like infogrames , civilization , arts , units , etc , ......

and sometimes those remaining folders interfere with the new install , and in most cases the reason that made you do the uninstall in the first place hides somewhere in those files , ....
