Good suggestion but I was wondering though if the old admins have graduated to CIV III - which is why I posted here.

I'm looking for help you see - for suggestions admins. I've created a league at http://www.myleague.com/civ3ptw/ - we have about 100 folks signed on but few are playin games. Some are and are very good but it's not catching on. I was wondering if the old CIV II league folks had any ideas to encourage playing on the ladder.

It's a nightmare trying to get a good game going most of the time. Everyone is looking for the cut throat kill game. I'd actually like to get to modern times.

It took a while for Gameleague to catch on as well, if I remember correctly. People are barely figuring out PTW right now, with all it's inherent firewall problems etc. It's a hard sell for a rating league when people don't even understand how Direct IP works for instance. So I think that it will catch on soon.

Yep, I think time and patience is the best thing to use right now, speaking from previous experience. Honestly, the best thing currently registered players on the Civ3 Ladder can do is seek each other out for games, and/or recruit new folks whenever they DO play to join the ladder right then. The ladder has close to 100 people-ish on it, but only 12 rated, because the rest either haven't played a game or won a game- and unfortunately, the vast majority simply haven't played!
