Flickering Screen
I reinstalled SMAC and SMAX (with patch etc.) this morning and immediately came across a problem. The game forces a refresh rate that causes my entire screen to wobble and flicker. Last time this happened (a year ago?) I did a search on this forum and found a command line to insert in the ini file, but a current search now turns up nothing.

Does anyone know how to force the refresh rate to 60? It's not Refresh=60 (ie as in CivIII) - what is it? Btw, please don't suggest I change drivers; I'm using the latest detonator, and I'm not going back to an older version every time I play SMAX - particularly when I know an ini. change will do the trick. Thanks in advance for your help.

I get that with the latest patch. Never solved it. I mean the units flicker with the mouse pointer in the way on the main map. I move the mouse pointer back down to the info area, and the flickering unit quits flickering. Maybe it has something to do with refresh rate, but never knew of a line that would cure it.

maybe the line like in Civ III may help, where one puts in the *.ini file -- Refresh=60 or something.

Just Grasping Right Now, though!!

In Alpha Centauri.ini, changing this item's value from Zero to One seems to help in a variety of situations, some not documented:

[PREFERENCES]
ForceOldVoxelAlgorithm=0

Also, in the [Alpha Centauri] section, there are these two entries:

ds3d=1
eax=1

They can be Zero or One, whichever works for you.
