Unsinkable Trireme
I was playing a long-time former friend today and I found out that he was using the unsinkable cheat. He had done this on prior occasions as well and had justified at along various lines of:

1) He claims this is "knowledge."
2) He figures other people do it.
3) He figures he'll never be caught with his "I always risk my boats" excuse.

I caught him on 3 occasions using the boat cheat in our games, and I figure he does this in every game. Today was the last time I would tolerate this cheating, however, for I warned him not to do it and gave him the benefit of the doubt on previous occasions.

So confirm for us all. The unsinkable boat is a cheat, am I not right?

I will not reveal his true identity, but his zone name is Zeppelin. It's only fair to let everyone know that he uses the boat cheat. He admits to the deed as well.

tough one to check for.Yes its definitly a cheat.

its done by just moving 2 spaces, press W(wait) and using the end turn keyboard shortcut.Same techinque that is used to keep missles and planes aloft forever if you want.

Yup, that's a classic cheat originally used by the AI to prevent it's unit from crashing mid air.

Because out of old friendship's sake, I pledged not to dishonor his real name. That's all. I do not consider him a friend, because he lied straight to my face. Said he'd never do it again, but again and again, he used it in every game he played with me.

I agree that this is a cheat that should not be allowed. I've posted in our rules set for this to be included as not allowed.

Thanks for reminding us of this one. I had forgotten about it.

It's an old CHEAT... and I don't think I remember anybody in the old days defending the use of this trick.
People that use it should be taken out and shot

I just assume everyone at the zone cheats. I was playing someone there this week and getting lag when I was hosting, lol!

I destroyed a hydey city this weekend and he was left with a tri sticking out of a land square. So he attacked me with it - we just laughed about it.

I didn't say everyone cheats at the zone - I said I assume everyone cheats. Saves time later

It is certainly better here in that regard......though finishing games is a problem no matter where you play.

My vote is that this is a clear cheat btw.

Not at the zone - they play settings where I quickly get creamed.

it would appear that if someone attacks before mech infantry you don't like that either, which translated into aussie means you get creamed ? or do i have that wrong ?

*and note, there are 65 people currently signed up for the Civ II MP Group*

No I like early war. 6000 years of microing can get a little dull.

I go to the zone regularly for a dose of wham bam thank you maam civ.

No problems getting a game. In fact I refuse more than I play.

The ultimate insult to Eyes is many people won't play him over there because of past cheating and keep watch for his latest login.

I mean, a civ leper at the zone? How low can can you go?

Hehe.

There still have to be three figures of active players left, when you combine the settings at least.......so 5 is hyperbole.

However more popular MP games do have 3000 players online at all times.....the difference is stark.

Not many MP.....quakeworld is still quite popular, and TA (which is just over a year younger than civ) is still played.

Quality over Quantity.
I'd rather have a group of 20 that I trust, than 1000's that I don't.
