I have to say that the train from my city to Boston has really impressed me: it's convenient, spacious, and has quite nice scenery... Until you get to Boston, which is then just urban.

It's £27 for me to get from Manchester to Aber and back; which is 250 miles by car. Not much more expensive than just the marginal cost, never mind having to account for road tax, the cost of the car, insurance, and the concentration needed.

That is surprisingly cheap, but have you ever tried to buy a ticket between places where both places have a sizeable population? Try buying a ticket from Manchester to London

I think I got a return for about £40 when I went to a Poly meet.

Again, it's 400 miles there and back for me, so just about equates with marginal cost. Never mind having to account for road tax, the cost of the car, insurance, and the concentration needed.
