thanks ming, i don't know if your support will be enough to make the change, but i think it will make our games better...and in reality that is why we extended oracle...while were on it, lets bring GW back too....this way there are less changes...and lets just note for the record that GW is banned in duels with no city bribe?

does that all make sense?

i really feel strongly that 200 shield wonders unbalance the game, and we all know how rough it is when someone gets the pyramids/hg combo, or the gw/pyramids combo or *shudders* the three of them together......

this may allow players a better shot at capturing one of these wonders....and with GW back in, it might allow a player who is losing to put together an offence and perhaps go cruising around the neighborhood especially if he feels he can leave minimal def at home

As I said I support your cause, but why just HG and pyramids? Many wonders are too powerful.

spike the biggest reason for hg and pyramids, is due to the time frame in which you can build them and their cost.... for the price of mikes i can have hg and pyramids which is a way better early game combo and by the time i need to have some sort of happiness fixer upper, my cities have the infastructure/trade routes already.

IMO there isn't any other wonders in the game on the worlds we play on that give such a great bonus at such a little cost.....

Some might argue the Light House is too powerful, but not on the maps we play on

We should probably consider LOWERING the number of shields for Marco's... because nobody builds it now

Yeah, Marco's is pretty much useless. Even lowering it might not help.

But imagine being able to choose between Hoover Dam, Shake's theater, and HG.

It would be nifty.

i dn't really want to go totally altering the game, i just think things should cost a bit more......the only way to bring in other wonders IMO is to play a game that CONTINUES...

but 300 shield HG and Pyramids and bringing GW back are very easy to do....oh ...and someone make barracks produce vet boats

During a game is not the best time for serious discussion. Game chats are reserved for the more important things.... Like whining

i believe it was "that blows" lol...and i quickly corrected his word usage.....

yeah, poor lad, i did lose alot of units later on swatting him, mainly b/c i wasn't paying attention and was wandering around blindly ....had i gone after construction i would have used insta forts and just swatted him around..

instead i thought i would take the long way to invention by researching chivalry, monotheism, etc.... i was too engrossed in other things , plus the fun wore off once i realized rah only had the ai to deal with and hydey was out of the running.....

if we had had a fourth i would have been more focused...and i know hydey wanted to stop too

Rah just wanted to continue so he could get a little more celebrating in, and invention

three is like a duel with an ai and a battered civ....i new rah would be celebrating, i deliberately didn't build HG and decided i would have more fun using vet pults and laying devastation...

it was fun, if you get them early, vet pults are lethal matched up with pikemen, there really is nothing people can do hahha...

You don't even need to get them "early" for them to be effective. As long as you can defend them on the field, they continue to kick butt.
The best thing to do to defend against them is to just get them yourself. Because then you can destroy them when they move next to your cities

no its with the attack, they attack at 9 when vet, the only reason you send pike is cuz most people use those to defend and dont have an arsenal of mounted troops which do well against pikemen....

but as ming said, the best defence is a good offence especially when there is no flat land leading up to the city then i only build attack units hehe

It's nice when you can take them out before they hit the cities... but our maps don't really feature a lot of flat terrain.

Yeah... there is nothing better than surprising somebody with a stack of vet crusaders. But then again, nothing better than doing the same with a bunch of vet cats.

I love when they don't know you have math yet. And they stroll up with a stack of vet elephants and a vet pikeman thinking there is nothing you can do... and a single cat attacks the stack and kills it

its a painfull loss, especially for a noob who many not be willing to take that risk in future games....

its amazing how much a throttling will do to discourage attacks in the future

its always good to beat someone down the first few times they play, that way they will cower in a corner in the future hahahhha

Yeah... I love how when the game is over, and you go look... and see that the person has stacks of defenders in EVERY CITY and stopped expanding just because they lost an early battle

It's like when you meet your first civ, and you think you can't expand in that direction anymore... and then later you find out that it was a "lone horseman" far away from home

yeah, i have been guilty of that at times, its hard not to think that way if you meet someone real ealry though and its a measley warrior....mounted units can make up so much more distance, especially if they find rivers....

personally my most hated thing is when i don't expand in one direction cuz i think i see the end of the continent and its a one tile isthmus leading to alot more land, and by the time i figure it out, most of the good tiles are being used or i just miss out on more land gains...gr....

i have noticed triremes in our games alot earlier, i did it last night to find two one tile islands off the mainland, i wanted no war with hyded and wanted to expand by see, so map was a priority, then of course the next logical step was math.....and then i had to clear the forest a bit

Yeah... I've had a tendency to go for early map making more often these days when it looks like I might get pinned in early. Rah's been doing that for a while.

As long as I can keep expanding, I usually ignore map making.

Yeah... techs from huts do sometimes change your thinking
