Nahhhh... if they had really listened, they wouldn't have come up with a totally different game. Heck, they took a step backwards on the combat system. While stacked combat is better, removing fire power was a joke.

I don't like the stacked combat in civ3. You don't have to plan your attacks as well. Overall I like the system in SMAC best.

smacs model was good too....i like stacked combat, but it hurts to lose your stack if you dn't have those fortresses

I just think the stacked combat system is more realistic. I'm not a big fan of seeing an entire army disappear just because one unit lost

True, but it does add a certain need for planning. The reason I like the SMAC system best is that when a defending unit loses the other units don't die but take collateral damage........which makes the attacking units in the stack less effective. IMO this strikes the best balance between mindless stacking and losing everything because 1 unit loses.

Nah in CTP multiple units attacked and defended at once. Very different.

I thought in CTP II, you went to a seperate screen, and the units fought in rows... with long range weapons being defended by your defensive units... more like a real war game.

yes it did Ming, i knew i remembered it from somewhere......it was rows of muskets, cannons, and flanked by horsies, kinda the way risk shows it on their box, and the traditional warefare stance throughout history

Yeah... each unit was involved, and it really mattered what the make up of your army was.

That's what I meant by multiple units defending/attacking at once.

Yeah we were on the same track about CTP.......though as I said I preferred SMAC stacking. Civ3 was definitely a step back though......either SMAC or CTP's system would have been preferable.

Actually (and this comes from somebody who watches posting levels as part of his job here) Friday night is one of the slowest nights on the site. After people leave work, things start to quiet down. Saturday during the day is usually slow (not today it seems, traffic is way up for some reason) and it really doesn't pick up until later.

Sundays can be really slow.

The weekdays are by far the heaviest days for traffic, and usually during American Work Hours.

Friday nights are made for partying... Most people have better things to do. And North Americans posting from work really drive the heavy cycles. Heck, you can even notice the drop off at 11 am my time when the east coast goes out to lunch... no kidding.

Like War says I'm not going to argue with someone that has the numbers. Remember I am GMT though.......it always seems Saturdays are busier than weekdays to me.......but maybe not.
