Playing without the CD
I've transferred the cd files (\kings, \video) to hd as specified in the readme, changed "whereiscd" in civ.ini to d:\games\civ2, but I still get interruptions saying the cd isn't in the drive. Press OK and everything works - intro, movies, finale, etc.

Anything I can do to stop the interruptions?

I can't help with the question as posed, but I play without a CD in the drive by using a 'Virtual CD' - this means that I can play all varieties of Civ, 2.42 ... MP with just one CD image permanently loaded into a virtual drive - if interested the software can be found here.
