Been on a long break from civ 3, Is PTW multi play working yet?
I have been away a long while and am in the dark on Civ 3 goings on.

Did they ever get it to work? How good is it now? I bought PTW and shelved it, since multi didn't work. I pretty much gave up on civ 3..but got the itch to try it again the other day.

Can you play yet? Or is multi still fubared?

Where is a good place to play if you want to play some multiplay?

Works great for me- I get one OOsynch every 15-20 games, using direct IP to connect. As for where to play, we ladder junkies play a lot of games simply using the standard Gamespy/Civ3 chat room- there's always someone playing there.

It works for me in one to one games with people living nearby only. Did not yet play any successfull game with more than 2 players. So, the answer to your question must be: No, there is no patch yet that solved the original problems with MP.

If PBEM suits you, you'll find a lot of fun in it. It works.

There will be a new patch out soon that eliminates most OOS problems and even allows games with modem players to be enjoyable.

Playable with 2-3 Human Players, if you'r lucky to find someone with a good connection and live near from you.

I've played a game with someone from Toronto(i'm in montreal) 600km of distance separate us, it was playable but a little bit laggy.

I recommend you wait for the next patch maybe the price will be lower!

It works with one condition:

You have to have a broadband connection (cable/dsl) to play with more than 4 players. ISDN is good for upto 4, dial-up I have played with 3.

I'll admit it, 1.14f is less than totally enjoyable if there are modem players in the game. The way the game works is that everyone plays at the speed of the slowest computer and the slowest internet connection.

The next patch (real soon) improves this a lot.
