Dumb question: alliances and peace.
If I get sucked into a conflict via an alliance (or to be more accurate, if I suck another civ into a war I'm in via an alliance. ), when can I sue for peace without angering my ally?

Sorry if this information is already posted somewhere in a FAQ or another thread.

If you call up the other civs leader, and click on Active underneath the message box, it will bring up all your active deals with this nation. If there are numbers in parentheses next to an item, then that is the number of turns left until you can cancel the arrangement with no damage to your rep.

If you have PTW, just go to your Foreign Advisor screen, click on the Details tab, and then click on the leader's head. It will tell you the same info.

Specifically these agreements last 20 turns from the turn the agreement is negotiated. So if an MPP is already 10 turns old when a war begins, it lasts 10 more turns. If you make peace before that time is up, you take a rep hit, although it appears that this is not as serious a hit as would be caused by ROP Rape or breaking trade agreements.

So if I'm in an alliance, I can't make peace for twenty stinkin' turns? (Assuming the war starts near the beginning of the alliance.)

Well, that explains why everyone hates me!

The biggest problem is if you have a military alliance with someone against a third country, and you eliminate that country, your allies considers that breaking the pact!

No, the alliance expires peacefully, you even get a message from your foreign advisor telling you that.

The thing to avoid is making per-turn deals with a civ that gets wiped out.
