I don't see any reason why one couldn't hypothetically:

1) install ToT twice
2) 'patch' one install to MGE

That way, you still have ToT if you like it for SP (which I do) or for the odd MP ToT game, and MGE to play multiplayer (I think 95%+ of CivII MPers here play MGE).

Note that the SP AI in MGE is, ahem, a little more aggressive than 2.42. Hence a separate install of ToT or 2.42 might suit some players.

I agree. AI in MGE is much more hostile... the 2.42 AI is a gullible sap

And maybe I'm imagining things, but I find that the ToT AI (SP) is tougher than MGE - not significantly, but enough that I prefer ToT.

Hmmm, in that case I may have to wander over to CFC and see if they have this nefarious tool.

For curiosity's sake, of course.

I don't know why the forum isn't showing my last post. Does anyone know why it does this?

EDIT: That nefarious patch will take a lot of time to download on 56K. Is 56K too slow for MP?

I'm poor and don't have DSL or anything but dialup.

Sorry about the triple post Ming, it was an accident (the third one).

56K is playable for sure......but it is like taking a trip in the back of a truck rather than first class in a plush railway carriage.

I had broadband when less than 1% of the country did........I've had it for about a year now, as I have posted many times.

I was, of course, speaking from memory.

I used to have broadband, but then I got married and she doesn't want the expense. I may have to dump her.

I use 56k and I host most of the time. Works better than most probably because IT infrastructure is so good in the capital.

Well, I'm sure not going to tell her. She's meaner than a bear with dingleberries.

Doesn't anyone in your group have broadband? (apart from Deity's half broadband )

Even if you have the best of infrastructure the player with the fastest connection should host.

At least we can play a game without crash and burn like canadians do.

I have cable but Horsie likes to host, gives him a sence of belonging
