However, there is little to substantiate that such things actually happen. A lot of it is a bunch media hysteria over something that is mostly urban legend, like the "bug chasers" article that appeared in Rolling Stone.

most curious, and if true, distasteful and disheartening.
i keep thinking of a situation not unlike the syphilis outbreak in rockdale county, ga (metro atlanta, southeast side) a few years back, where many many many many teens contracted it because of the frequent orgies they engaged in.
