Dude, where's my invasion?
1886 SMC report:

Esteemed president, and loyal citizens of the glorious Apolytonian Democracy.

What do you do when you throw a party for the Chinese and nobody shows up?

I'm quite pleased with how all our fronts have stabilised.

The only immediate order I request is for a rushed rifleman in Issus. This will complete all the fortifications required.

All other citybuilds look awesome. Good job cavebear

Secondly, I want more naval presence in the area of Kazan. Right now we have one vet cruiser patrolling the sealanes.

One of the new AEGIS cruisers should go to the Chinese sealanes, 1-2 to the Japanese, and the remainder to the Mongols.

One should patrol the shores of the Celtic front.

Investigation with our fighter on the sealane between us and the Mongol home continent reveals the presence of 2 stacked destroyers, just within reach of our cruiser. Sink these, and leave the lone destroyer to counterattack.

Salamanca barbs:

Fortify a calvary from Naples on the hill indicated by atomant so that the barbs cannot pillage valuable terrain improvements without punishment.

This should be enough to deal with the barb spawning point of muskets and cannons. After the barbs have cleared, we should build another city to quell further uprisings.

Any comments should be placed below.
Signing off.

I envision the AEGIS from Avila going to Malaga to rehome (to correct an unhappiness problem) then on toward the Chinese area. I think you can suggest the rest to be moved as you wish.

Building a city at a Barb spawning point is a good idea and it should solve the problem.

My philosophy is that you should be able to do your job without ever touching a single unit. Your various advisors should inform you with what you need. I think their is a utility to estimate caravan payoffs in the Civ2 strategy thread.
just curious - it sounds like you moved the figher out of Kazan? am i missing something here?

One thing I liked about being Science Minister was the relative lack of controversy

Moving units?

Planting a city on the barb spawn point is a good idea. Trouble is, if we wait for the barbs to come to us, they may spawn again before we get an engineer in position.

Yes, I did.

I would have ordered the unit to patrol regardless.

I did this last turn as well when I looked for that last mongol city on the Kazan continent.

Have I overstepped my bounds, ixnay?

You really shouldn't do that. It gives information we shouldn't have.

Just as we can't fight a test battle to see if things would work in our favor, and we can't test-deliver Freight to see what the gain is, we can't explore with units either.

The rule is only the President can "play the game". And he is not allowed to practice, either.

So let's be cautious about anything that reveals what we should not know except through irreversable play.

You probably have

But then again, why wasn't our President patrolling, to hunt for that city on our actual turns? Or was he?

I smell a Congressional Investigation

Our President has not been active in this area of overseeing the Ministers, which was my original reason for thinking of running for that office next term.

I consider that failure a problem, and it is beginning to show up more in recent weeks. A President should be providing some level of guidance and management over the Ministers. But I did not think that would be considered sufficient reason for the Citizens to unseat a President who was otherwise doing a good job.

Looks like I was right before...

As cityplanner, I never touched a unit, I never needed to examine the units to file my report.

Whereas a SMC does nothing but examine the positions of our units and try to predict where the enemies will go.

Actually, that last turn, we knew the location of the city, through the irrigation patch, but not the size, etc. I sent the spy to see if we could afford to bribe the city.

Duly chastened, cavebear, STYOM.

Hereinafter, I will keep my grubby hands off our soldiers.
