Capitalism, like Communism is ddomed to failure because of it's very essence. Mixed economy is the only way. However, what they are doing is not capitalism because if it were, as we pay the most, they would market fixes to us first. What this is is much more Nationalism and Jingoism by US based companies. US-centricism if you need an "ism" to aim at.

De Falcho, it is certainly not liberalism, referring to what spiffor told us about Atari. Liberalism requires a non-monopoly situation.
I think this computergame business is way off it's track.

A notice to UK people .The link

http://www.ina-support.com/faq/civ3ptw_pc.asp

will lead you to the wrong patch! Although it installs fine, later when you try to start the game, it fails. Although you have the original game cd in your drive it can not find it!

So beware! Don't install it.

I did, happy that at last I had the patch. Then I had to uninstall and reinstall the whole game...

Can't these people do something right?

I hope that on Monday that the UK patch comes out, it will work....

Grrrrrrr!!

Being patronised by a Country that you over a quarter as old as and whose inventions can be listed on the back of a very small postage stamp makes my blood rise above 100 degrees C.

As we invented the computer and the internet, not to mention html, the least these upstart colonials could do is get the donkey work done on the software!

On the official Patch page, there is printed a warning over the description of both the PTW patch and none-PTW patch:

For the US version only and is completely incompatible with any European version...

And somebody actually made it work? Well, when Infogrames made a SO good game, I trust them, and I won't risk to destroy my game with an incompatible patch..... hell, I'll only get an error message anyways, so I'll do it.

hi ,

on what official patch page , that should only be on www.firaxis.com , for any download you should use the apolyton download center at www.apolyton.net/civ3/ , ....

there is a huge difference between US english and UK english on the software programs , that is why each version has its own patch , this is most likely to be changed with the new XP " conquest "

have a nice day
