How to be a "THE GREATEST CIV PLAYER IN THE WORLD"
After reading a few of the latest posts by "some" members here, I thought it was only appropriate that this subject get it's own thread...

Please feel free to add to it...

How to be a "THE GREATEST CIV PLAYER IN THE WORLD"

1) If you get off to a bad start, no matter what the reason, just quit and say you didn't really lose.

2) Never mention when other people actually beat you

3) If somebody does beat you, just claim that the settings they made you play on are only for idiots and morons, and claim you could have beaten the person on the settings of your choice

4) And if that doesn't work... call them a **** loser and accuse them of lying.

5) Any time you lose, just say it was bad luck and not really a loss. If you win, always claim it was skill, and not your opponents bad luck

6) If all else fails... cheat.

7) *thanks to rah *
Always have a few anonymous icq accounts so you can join games anonymously. Then when you win, you can unmask and claim your greatness, and when you lose you can make up a new anonymous icq account.

8) Never play somebody you think can beat you. Make excuses, dodge, hide, ignore, say you don't play their settings, or blame the other person as the reason why you haven't played... whatever it takes to avoid playing somebody who might be able to hand you a loss

Again... feel free to add your own. It shouldn't be to tough finding material based on what "some" people have already posted

Ahhh, well since you asked.. the first thing to consider when seeking to be the greatest civer of all time is to listen and learn, study saves of your oponents after the game and never say you are the best.

That's for others to decide

This deserves its own thread.......but it's going to be tricky to add others, since the list already covers the main whines/excuses.

My post at least made a point relevant to the initial post, making it the second least spammy post in this thread after Ming's.

I see far more prominent evidence of +1ing.

10) play n00bs on whatever ladder is active at the time to achieve #1. then stop playing and brag about how damn good you are, incessantly pointing at your #1 ranking the whole time

your a jack of all trades Spike...... you have more comments now about anything/everything....

its become defacto for your to state the obvious.......

but i agree, there was a smidge of usefull info in your post.

12) claim #1 ranking by winning a few matches against noobs.......stop playing for a month to let others overtake you, then beat on noobs again to regain the #1 ranking..... do this more than 8 times in a row and you will be able to call yourself SUPREME CHAMPION

I got to 3310 on the ladder, nobody has ever come close since. Kuja I think got to 2800 but he cheated like a mofo to do it. You don't get to 3310 on gameleague unless you're playing the top 5 players. I guess those rules don't apply to me.

No player can be the greatest without some catch phrases

such as:

I am the greatest ever..its true,its true.

I am 19 time league champion

I have never lost to such and such while winning 73 straight games

You just got Republic on the same turn I launched

I can easily have 66 cities at 3000AD

My connection is iffy today

You don't get to 3310 on gameleague unless you're playing the top 5 players

Nice thread,

Why not rename it: Frustrated mediocre players get their chance to rant on someone who they cant beat in civ.

Just my 2 cents.

15) regularly tell good players what a great player you are but never play them.

Well I see history revisionists are bashing the only 8 time Game League Champion, me.
1) I achieved 2600+ points
2) I had an extremely limited play list, only 5 or 6 players and these were the best players around at the time . I DID NOT WASTE MY TIME PLAYING THOOSE WHO COULD NOT WIN LIKE KUJA TO ARTIFICIALLY RAISE MY POINTS.
3) I played every setting from 2 x 1, 1 x 1, king to deity, large maps, small maps, multiplayer games,2 x 2, archi to conts, 3 billion to 5 billion, large land to small land unlike some previous champions, ohhhh such as Eyes who ONLY played duels, 2 x 2 king, large land, small board, 3 billion, conts.
4) I HAVE, AND WILL NEVER EVER CHEAT IN A GAME
5) I played almost every game with someone else as host, and if you want to see statistical anyalization of starting positions of host and non- hosts, it proves conclusively that the host starts with an advantage in a greater % of the games .( Eyes and Kuja hosted almsot all of thier games and so did Thenothing (jail boy) and there was always the possibillity of using a premade board without detection in addition to host advantages of better land and closer huts.
So because of all these reasons, excuse me if I claim to be the greatest civ player of all time.
If you dont like it, prove me wrong.

I've been in a few other forums......where making a post that's obvious flame bait is just as bad as the idiots who flame. ^_^

As for gameleague formulas......they all came out of my head. In the final one, you couldn't get any points for playing someone with less than half your score. In fact you lost points if you did. That's not to say you can't avoid certain inviduals....and still be highly ranked.

Many have claimed this, but I'm looking for a clarification. Is this claim based on the the fact that the host has first crack at choosing white and does so or just the fact that he's the host regardless of where he moves in the civ order.

I host 90% of the games i'm in, but I never choose the white civ. I have experienced nothing that would lead me to believe that I'm getting the best starting location.

That's because you think the other players whine about their start no matter what. Perhaps they have reason to whine.

Nah, I think any advantage is due to the well known white civ characteristics, which are offset by other disadvantages of being white.

If Strat has any results though he should post them.

I hope that is the case, and is the main reason I never choose white. I wouldn't want anyone to think that by hosting I'm trying to get an advantage. And I think the disadvantages of being white are overrated. The only problem time is between 3250 and 2000. (assuming RH and 2x1x, in 1x1x the problem period lasts longer).

In our games the settings are predetermined so it doesn't matter who hosts.
