DEA placement anyone solve ot?
I was just trying to figure out if there is an optimal placement for a given planet. Has anyone come up with a layout that they like? Other than the HW.
Are you using Gov on all planets or only one per system?
Do you use the same placement on all planets (nah)?
I suppose it will have to be changed for some races.

For Bioharvesting I use Fertile / Alluvial and Plains.

For Mining I use Mountaineous Regions.

All other DEAS are AFAIK not influenced by the Type of the Region, so I place those other DEAS, especially Military and Governmental into rather useless Regions, like Hostile Plains.

I tend to use only one Governmental DEA per System, if I set the Governmental Zones up for myself. But as I have included Governmental in my Development Plans as Tertiary Priority for new Worlds, I assume that the Viceroy builds one Governmental DEA per Planet.
Most of the Times I let my viceroy place the DEAs anyway.

I always fill every planet with DEA's as soon as the colony is ready. And I specialise heavily. If a planet is rich or better, then it gets covered in mining, with perhaps 1 x Recreation and 1 x Millitary to control unrest. I leave the first industry and don't build any more. I specialise in the same way for food planets, but put research or mining in the mountains. My industry planets get 1 x Recreation and 1 x Millitary and then all the reat is industry regardless of terrain. Big barren, poor worlds are ideal.

If I'm playing with Humanoids, then I'll put an extra millitary or recreation DEA per planet to keep the silly buggers happy.

Only one Government DEA per system is enough but sometimes I play safe and put one on all my biggest planets, and then I'm a bit protected from having things blown up.

Important to note, for an industry or research world, it doesn't matter what the terrain is like. I just plaster everything with the same DEAs. Works for me.

I try to put at least one bioharvest and one military dea on each world so they won't starve if blockaded and to keep unrest down. To fill in the gaps, I use the development plans to specialize planets for their strong points.

Diverse biosphere=Bioharvesting
Mineral Rich=Mining
Mineral Poor=Farming
Poor biosphere=Research/Industry

I rarely build recreation deas because building a military one is more effective in keeping unrest down and I hate to waste the space.

That is what I was interested in hearing. I starting to lean toward a Gov on large planets and Mil as well.
I have been forced to come back and scrap some research DEA on fertile type regions to make a Bio for all of those Red planets.

I place Farms on all Plains that are at least Arable. I have a large empire food surplus, but better to have way too much than not enough!

I also put either a Recreation, Military or Government DEA on each planet, since their effects spread out to other planets. Helps to cover my butt.
