my first actually successful game on talent (don't make fun!)
specialist is waaay too easy so i thought i'd try talent. don't point and laught just because you all play on transcend! i picked yang got on a continent alone pacted with zak after empath guild but he got eliminated by miriam(the *****) so my evil scheme to suck the techs out of him was down the drain. war with miriam for about 200 years but all she did was kill all my sea formers and any boats that got to close. she had a gazillion sea bases which is where she got her super duper navy from, so i couldn't even get a transport over until air power(ahh the wonders of needlejets) i had a continent where i had some new bases and there was another continent next to it so there was kind of a channel to get up to believer land. all my boats got taken out when i tried to go up there so i sent my fusion needlejets and killed all their boats. after advanced spaceflight i got the living refinery and switched from power to knowledge which pissed santiago off a lot. i pacted w/ dei(dre) and we killed of the damn spartans (all of them). usually what i do with conquered bases is give them back to whoever's they were if they surrender or just give them to a pactmate if they don't. meanwhile i finally got through to miriam's sea bases with about 10 shard battleships 13-<6> combined with maritime control. i got a few of their sea bases and i have transport full of units i'm bringing up from the spartan war (i'll have to make about 3 or 4 trips). plus i had morgan near me and he got the hunter-seeker so i took out morgan industries with needlejets and paratroopers (look at me i'm using combined arms!) oh what fun and i'm at about 2320 right now and at about tech level 8 (shard and probability) i usually play yang builder(surprise?) but im going for a hybrid this time and it seems to be paying off...at least since 2250.
oh BTW i have every SP

TKG - I'm not laughing. Prior to Vel's Guide (thanks to everyone here for that guide), I could barely beat the game on Talent level.

After the Guide, single-player Thinker level isn't a challege. That's how good the Guide is (and it deserves the capital G).

Keep at it and use the Guide for a reference. Pay attention to the formers and "turn advantage" sections. That stuff works wonders vs. the AI. It's not as effective vs Humans in PBEM who understand the same concept.

Oh, but you didn't go far enough ! It is more properly "The Guide", with both the "T" and the "G" capitalized !

Actually, the earlier diff levels can be harder than the later ones because of a glitch some say exists. It apparantly makes supply costs tougher on the easier diffs and easier on the tougher diffs. Figure that one out .

The only resource bug I know of is the one on transcend where everything costs less for human players.

That kind of balances out with the AI having the advantage of being at Citizen level while your cities must contend with drones and preventing them just to grow beyond size 1.

Except that, as Vel is publishing it, you could quite easily be done for copyright infringement.
