To ever mentioned Bitters

I got some friends who love that stuff

I love all beers, except for wheat beers and pale ales.

I like Bud, but usually start with a 24oz. of Becks or Heini.

American Beers I do Like that I don't think are complete crap and are not microbrews any more (IMO):

Fat Tire - out of Ft. Collins Co., good body, almost a red
Pete's - sometimes I like it, what can I say?
Sam Adams - nice American attempt at a Germanish Beer
Sierra Nevada - Their winter brew is superb
Red Hook - it doesn't give you wings

Maybe it is the deal that US beers need to sale in high quantities that is the issue, but if you want beers that actually taste good and mess you up, head to your local microbrew. Heck, there are three within a stones throw of me, and I like them all!

What bear?
You know, the bear that advertises Molson Export (I think) in the states. It's a guy in a bear suit who's usually convincing someone how great Molson is, or is in some other sort of "hilarious" situation.

I see them quite often on FOX Rochester.

Yes, I watch American television. Lock me up, throw away the key.

I watch lots of US channels too (including Fox Rochester...Sherman is my hero), but I don't recall that commercial.

I usually tune out commercials though...

Grain tarriffs. Because we're the ones subsidising our farmers.
What will they think of next...

Then they are hurt that the Canadian government isn't jumping to support them in their various adventures. Maybe someone could clue them in that their government seems to be trying to piss off average Canadians. Then it is unlikely that their government will get much sympathy from average Canadians who become unemployed due to their trading practices. Then when a government MP slips and mentions Americans as a bunch of bastards, that MP gets cheered instead of punished.

Why is American beer like having sex in a canoe?

They're both ****ing near water.

btw - I drink Dortmunder when available or Guinness.

After all, you DID burn down the White House 191 years ago.

I thought this was funny but the one issue I wanted to bring up is the point about mainstream US beer. Really what is up with that? Popular Canadian beer is just so much better. And there are a host of very wonderful European brews .

Is it just macho attitudes where having weak beer allows juvenile young men to brag about their beer consumption? Why is it that the biggest market in the world consistently accepts inferior brew?
Because the US puts high tariffs on quality foreign beers?

Well done on the Sherman Burdette nod. He's so much better than friggin' Donna Deedee.

Why DO we get Fox Rochester, anyway? In Edmonton, all of their Americhannels are Spokane/Couer-D'Alene (sp?), which makes sense, because it's geographically pretty close.

But out here (and possibly down there in the flaming pits of Calgary) we get Fox Rochester, and PBS & NBC Detroit. Why?

Probably because they were cheap to license and in the east coast timezone.

It's so awesome being able to watch shows from any of three timezones.

The NHL guys are geniuses. They managed to convince millions of Americans to finance our national sport.

and he still says America deserved 9/11. he said it coldly, without any thought or sympathy.

Propaganda works. How many times do you think they showed the towers collapsing on Iraqi TV? I'm guessing it's somewhere close to zero. How many times have you seen it? I'm guessing somewhere around a googol bajillion times.

Better? wood is wood.

Molsons is not that good: popular Canadian beer is just a small step above popular American beer..both crap.

Microbrewed beers are thankfully more and more plentiful here in the US.

But I miss the fine selections fo German beers I had in Uni.

Hmm. German beer. Thank god for the Purity Laws.

All that matters is if there are enough Americans willing to pay money to see it and there are enough. The league is flourishing with American money (money that goes into the pockets of good ol' Canadian boys) making the game all the more better for us Canadian fans.

Enough of this slander against Molson. Molson Export is a fine ale, a hellava lot better than any of that other mass produced piss out there. Ya can all drink your watered-down tasteless N.A. lager, but don't go knocking a decent mass-produced bitter/ale.

Stella Artois and other decent European imports are pretty easy to get (at least in NYC)... and nice Scotch is too... which is my poison of choice.

Make mine a Lagavulin 16 yr old on spring water rocks.

The second most common beer in the world (second to Budweiser) is Heineken. Which proves that you can mass produce good beer.

But I would prefer a Salvator any day of the year...ahh, Salvator.
