Well if you weren't speeding you wouldn't have been fined. The speed limit is a set value. Not a wishy washy 5-10% allowance. Dont go over the limit...no problem.

also, i'd like to raise another grammatical issue - in another thread, i saw malevolent light say that he could count the amount of games that he had lost on a few fingers. that should have been number. quite a few people have trouble distinguishing between countable and uncountable, such as amount vs number and less vs fewer
