Red Front Democracy Game!
“It's June 1941 and tensions are mounting along the Soviet-German border... Are the
Germans about to break the Molotov-Ribbentrop non-aggression pact signed in 1939?
You, Josef Stalin, the Commander-in-Chief of the Red Army and sole ruler of the Soviet
Union are about to face a tremendous challenge...” -The opening description of the grandest World War 2 scenario ever, Red Front, created by Captain Nemo. Yet again the Civilization 2 community is blazing the path of innovative ways to play a turn based strategy game. This week saw the creation of the Civ2 Democracy Game: Red Front Forum where the members will be playing the scenario as the Soviets in a war to drive back the German attacker. While the finishing touches have yet to be placed on the government, it promises to boast 6 military commanders, each in charge of a specific part of the front who will be responsible for driving back Nazi Germany.

I apologize if this posting by an “outsider” on this thread is a breach of etiquette. I have been playing around with Red Front for a while and find your preparations and rules very interesting. The rule about the freight convoys should make for some very dicey deliveries.

I have a question. Is it possible to arrange it so that anyone can see an actual game save well after a turn has been played?

If I may, a small suggestion that might help. The best defensive/offensive weapon the Russians have is the 152mm howitzer. With its 14 attack, it’ll take out any German unit except a Karl. However 2 vet howies may take out a vet Karl and 3 almost certainly will. Tried a test with 10 vet howies inside city and 3 vet Karls outside. When the dust settled, there were no Karls but 5 howies remained, 3 of them banged up. I seems to me that this approach may be more effective than using cruisers with their 10 attacks. Cheaper too.

Best of luck with your game and, again, apologies if I have butted in where I should not have.
