Yes, Tony Halme. We've spoken quite a lot about him in the Finnish election thread. He got 15,000 votes in Helsinki area, which is quite, quite a lot - and gives him a seat in the parliament. Tony published a book 'bout two years ago. Here are some statements from the book. I've translated them myself. No, I don't own the book - I got them off Muro. I've leafed through the book, though - they're authentic. And they're only the tip of the iceberg.

Furriners don't have any idea what this means, or what just happened.. they are really underestimating the value of this. I'm glad he wasn't a member of any major parties, or he would be minister of some kind..

There is a Finnish children's song where they are mentioned. The term "Hottentot" isn't PC anymore though.

Stefu, Well he has denied that those lightnings are SS tattoo. In his book he says he got in trouble with gang co-ordinators who thought he belong to Arayans. So, if you don't have any facts on it, please don't say it's a fact. I have those same lightinings in my army insignia, and they sure as hell don't have anything to do with SS.

I think he is racist, but I doubt he is a nazi. I VERY much doubt it. Also he has some good ideas and views too, but he is a bit racist too, so it stains his career very much. I don't like him too much, but thinking he is a dangerous nazi who will start some kind of bizarre agenda of his own is way off.

By no means am I defending this guy. I'm just saying we make him sound a lot worse than he actually is. He is not dangerous in real life, except if you pick up a fight with him, but other than that.. pretty harmless. And no, don't bring your 'Hitler was harmless at first too', because this guy is well known. But racists? I think so yes.

Idiots, by definition, have an IQ of under 80, at least in here.

Halme has been in a tabloid-controlled (don't get me wrong, it was completely valid test, it wasn't the worst tabloid on the market which made it) IQ-test. He scored 121. He's not an idiot. He just doesn't know a **** about political work.

He's against goverment control, so I must disagree, he's not a nazi, or at least by the definition what I'm using of National Socialists.

Halme is a guy with lots of talk and no walk. When we combine this with the fact that he's never in his life been participiating in politics, and knows nothing of them, we can safely say that he'll be a completely useless nuisance, filled with lots of anti-immigrant and (mainly) anti-homosexual rhetorics.

Still, he got ovet 16 500 votes in Helsinki. If you would know the way the general elections are held in here, you would realise that it's a ****load of votes. Erkki Tuomioja, for example, scored below 9 000.

Yes, he scored pretty well, also he speaks 4 or 5 languages? He has made lots of money with his mouth and is performer.

He is definitely NOT a nazi. He is a racist, but NOT a nazi. I think we know him better, and I'm sure he does not idolize Hitler or would like to be thought as nazi.

Racist, nationalist, anti-commie.. hmm.. this would fit very many types. This alone does not make anyone nazi. And as nationalist, he wouldn't be even called patriot in the US. Our right is not even your left. Americans would call him more patriot than nationalist, plus are there lots of pro-commies? But he is a racist, not very open 100%, but some racism is there. But if these are enough to make someone nazi, well then there are millions of nazis in this world. But I admit, he looks like one

He has some colourful statements, but they are mostly about other things, things that we all hate and he wants to make them better, like criminals getting away too easy, drugs off the streets etc. His way to talk is provoking to many, but it's the way he speaks. But no, I don't think he will make a good politician. BUt there are many misconceptions here that I felt needed to be straightened out.

Pretty charismatic in interviews, usually, when using such lots of generally quite witty insults towards liberals - usually it works pretty well on the general Finnish audience, but sometimes it goes over the top - in fact, so much, that it isn't funny anymore, it's just oxymoron. Also, sometimes he's mildly drunk during interviews and goes a bit more over the top. Great entertainment, however.

I agree with you. I still don't think he truly is a nazi. He might be called one, but I think he is just racist. That's not positive either.

He is relatively intelligent as compared to stupid. He did ok, better than average person in that test. That doesn't make him wise or good politician or that his views are correct. Just that he is not that stupid. By this I don't mean his views naturally. They don't seem to be very intelligent

I don't agree with your view that he drives for 'if you can't see... ' etc. He said he'd like to go after tough criminals. Drug dealers etc, give them tough punishments. I didn't hear anything about punishing users and small time people. And he said that after that is being taken care of, the streets will be safer too.
That's my own interpretation of it though, so I don't know what he really meant.
Ok, I stop here because I don't want to sound like I actually support this guy

Hm. Aamulehti (Finnish newspaper, not one of those tabloid kinds) tells that Halme insulted the President, Halonen, in a radio interview yesterday. She won't be pressing charges on slander, however. There is nothing official on what exactly Halme said in that interview, but some say that he, uhm, questioned the sexual preference of the President.
