That's the whole problem imo, the more military troops you send in, the more hostile they get, which is quite natural of course! recent polls actually show that the areas in which IDF worked, the support for terrist actions has dropped by a quarter. this compared to gaza

Actually, he said that it's possible he won't be assigned to a settlement, and will instead guard within Israel.
I'm not sure though, since he might have been "soothing the truth" when talking to my mom, so she won't worry.
