suicide seems unlikely, yes.
I'm not sure if he's more like Stalin than Hitler though. A bit of both I suppose. Stalin never was as pressured as Hitler was when he (supposedly) blew his brains out. If American troops knock on the bunker door, Saddam might choose suicide over capture?

Wouldn't surprise me if Bushie sets up a Nuremberg-style tribunal for Saddam and/or his friends.

Yes raghar, you do have good points there. But Saddam being caught and facing trial is a remote possibility. I was just speculating.

Odin, what happened to Milosevic anyway? I suppose he's still sitting in his cell?

Thanx.

He will not be probably "executed" for his "crime" in Kosovo, it would be hard. It looks like he will be found guilty for his crimes before, from Serb vs Croatia struggle.

It must be incredibly painful to have had all that power and to have lost it. I wonder whether Milosevic has a choice of what to eat.

I have now narrowed the current possibilities for Saddam's situation to two.

1. Saddam will dissapear.
2.Saddam will be killed (if he hasn't already).

If he dissapears he would probably escape to Syria, maybe Iran (if he has any supporters there). Would Russia be a possibility? I really don't think that any government would protect him but terrorist groups would more than likely provide a safe haven for Hussein.

I've read on this forum Belarus has offered a safe haven to Saddam. Belarus' president is a very nice fellow too. Not as brutal as Saddam, but definitely a despot wanabee

Just before the deadline for the ultimatum ran out, Qatar offered Saddam safe haven in case he chose exile.

The real question is: Would the United States/Coalition permit Saddam to live out his days in exile? Can anyone who is serious about this war allow a man such as Saddam to run around freely in another country? Petty criminals get worse. Of course, Saddam is no petty criminal. I very much doubt that exile is even a possibility. Perhaps for a short while but certainly not for the long term.

He just gave a speech.

He didn't mention the POW's which seems suspicious. You would think he would gloat over that.

But he did mention specific battles and commanders.

So I guess he is alive. But I heard he was seriously injured.

sadam will become an arab martyr. many arabs who hate him now will praise his glorious defeat and he will become a reference point in future america-bashing among arabs.
congratulations!
