I am protesting the protesters
What happened in San Francisco was despicable. You call that a peaceful assembly? What gives them the right to jump on people's cars and prevent them from getting home from work? On that one independant website I was looking at the other day, they said their objective is to prevent the goverment from waging war. They can't do that obviously, since they don't have enough people to shut down the U.S. But how can you support the troops while trying to sabatoge the U.S. so they lose the war?

I have no choice but to believe they want U.S. troops to die.

I therefore am protesting their protests. Any ******* who jumps on my car will be thrown off when I hit the accelerator.

And the ironic thing is by obstructing traffic they cause gasoline consumption to go up because of all the traffic not going anwhere. And since oil funds terrorists, I have no choice but to believe that these protestors support terrorists. .

There is a good Support the Troops rally next wednesday, but I have to work. All the anti-war protests are when I'm wroking too . Only about 100 or 200 people showed up in my city. They had to bring in people from out of town, because they couldn't find enough people to protest the war . You see people in my city are sensible, and realize we aren't the bully as the anti-war protestors say. But Iraq is the bully. While it is true Iraq has never bullied us. We are like the big kid coming to the rescue of all the people and nations Iraq has bullied around.

Now for my patriotic flag

Some people would riot, regardless of the cause.

Depite me being a fervent war supporter, I do think that the greatest majority of protesters are good people.

Your flag has only 13 stars. The last American flag I saw with only 13 stars had two crossed blue bars.

I have no problem with protesting. They do have the right to peacefully assemble. I just have a problem with them obstructing traffic. I just don't consider obstructing traffic- peaceful assembly.

Traffic is already bad enough in our cities dammit!!

And I will protest any protesters that protest my protesting of proetesters.

I wonder what the protestors want,
do they really want that the war is being stopped so Sadam can stay there?

I know several people who all were against the war before it started, but now they say "Ok, it started, now finish it (him) as well"

Voltaire was French, but the French power structure couldn't stand him.

Victor Hugo was French, and his countrymen drove him to England.

I understand the protest on the Golden Gate Bridge came to an abrupt end when one of the protestors took a header off it.

yes someone did fall off the golden gate bridge. I think that was yesterday though.

And good point about the prosters. What do they want.

Should Bush go: Hey those guys are right! We should stop this war. Then he goes and withdraws all troops and pretends nothing happened

I want the war stopped before the US/UK can do more damage. I don't trust Shrub with handling its aftermath in the interests of the liberty of the Iraqi people and others in the region.

If you don't even know what the anti-war protestors want, you can find out easily. Hell, there are enough threads here where a number of anti-war people have been making posts.

yes but now it has started, what should we do? just pull our troops out and pretend nothing has happened?

That isn't a realistic goal. I keep saying it all along. Anti-war people have no realistic view of the world. Not everyone thinks like us westerners. If they did, war would not be necessary.

I just stated what he should do. If you're asking me what I expect he'll do, I don't expect Shrub to pull out.

What I hope will happen due to the protests is that he will be pressured to act a little bit more responsibly at the post-war settlement, and he will think twice before continuing his agression.

Yes, just as Confucius certainly isn't American.

And Imran, Voltaire would find himself right at home in Pierre (prounounced "Peere"), Belle Fourche ("Bell Fush"), or Flandreau ("Flandru").

Actually, Belle Fourche should be pronounced "Bell Foosh" ... ah well, so we butcher place names around here.

Funny Dissident but we have the same problem here in Mexico (especially in Mexico City)

Whenever there is a protest or march, and this happens rather frequently, hundreds of people march from some rural municipalty all the way to Mexico City, they march through the largest and busiest streets, notably Reforma which is like our Park Avenue, shutting down all traffic in the process and causing chaos in a 20 million people city which is already in gridlock.

While I have no problem with these people protesting injustice (which they are surely right in doing) doesn't that invade my own liberty as a commuter? Must I, and millions more suffer just because these people are pissed off at something?

THe problem is the government is so afraid that if they "control" these protests, they will be acussed of authoritarianism, of violating human rights, etc. What about my human rights when a freeway is shut down?

No fair.

Dissident, I feel your pain.

amen to that. is it so simple for war supporters to understand that people who are not supporting this agression actually have no sympathies for saddam?
