The Last Trade Poll
Before I do an exhaustive analysis of which cities demand what, I thought I'd post this poll.

We don't need any more science. One of the reasons I've been a big trade proponent is for the science bonuses.

And as SCG and others have pointed out, 1 Freight = 200g worth of rushbuying when building SS parts. So unless we can get bonuses of more than 200g for delivery, we're better off just contributing Freight to the build process. In fact for practical purposes, we need to get more than 200g per freight, to account for losses due to enemy action, cost of escorts and transports and the associated shield support... etc.

So this is the poll: Do we do any more trading?

Discussion welcomed.

we can safely deliver silk and coal demanded to the chinese, and wine demanded to the carthagenians (ie the freight can be delivered and the transport can return to port same turn), and then we have 2 uranium and 1 gems (proposed build) that can be delivered (demanded, off continent) that should also bring a good payoff. Other freight can't reach its destination in time because of out of place or destroyed transports, so should be used for SS parts. We can always rebuild the demanded ones for later delivery after launch if the game lasts that long. My proposed action recalls 3 gold freight because they are out of place (one gold could reach Vigo, but it is from Malaga (less than 10 trade spaces away) so unlikely to bring much in delivery.

I'd say we lose 25% of our transports. Transports cost 60 shields or 150 gold.

150 (0.25) = approx 35

So we would need >235 gold to justify a delivery that may result in the loss of a transport.

transports are 50 shields, not 60, but do cost 150 gold for a 1-production city (100 for shields 2-30, 25 for 31-40, 25 for 41-50). Although if we are rushing a transport instead of a freight, we are not getting the delivery value nor the SS production of that freight. For the most part, the plan i proposed involves building SS parts on continent the freight is built on, using 6 of the current 10 transports as there is one case where we are moving freight 2 continents to be used in builds.

of the 4 not being used, 3 are all bunched together in 1 city (2 of 3 will idle), and 2 are set to deliver between Leon and Capua. If we want, we could use those 2 transports for military deliveries to Cremona's island (using Turin as a port)
