apology to british apolytoners
i want to hereby apologise to british apolytoners for stating in one of the threads that 'all british people are gay, drink tea at 5 o clock and shout 'blimey!'' this was intended to be a joke but apparently many people complained to administrators and that took me by surprise.
i am very aware that neither of the above applies to british people and i have sincerely posted that to ridicule a british poster's remark that all russians love to live in a dictatorship. i thought that an equally ridiculous statement about british would be appropriate.
therefore, accept my sincerest apology. actually, during a whole year i spent on studies in the UK, i have not met a single british person who ever said 'blimey', nor did i ever have a 5 o clock tea with any of them.
sincerely,
larusso

Its an expression of surprise, not commonly used since the 1950's

Oh, hell. Screw them, if they can't take a joke.
I'm so goddamned tired of little wimpy whiners, who aren't even involved, pressing the complaint button.
Got it? Good! Now go see about acquiring a life.

Gor Blimey - has to habve the term gov'nor used at the end.
Cockneys apparently speak like that luckily steps are being taken to irradicate them.
Oh and to Larusso I am surpised people took offence to what you said. Within our country we insult each other far more than any poly poster(except Paiktis)

Mixing cockney and posh english sounds strange to a brit.
Cockneys wouldn't mind being unsporting.

I apparently say blimey on occasion. It was pointed out by an American friend of mine. I'd never noticed before.
Was it Brits that complained about that? What happened to our great self deprecating sense of humour? Miserable complaining gits.

i couldn't actually imagine anyone saying that but it's the perfect parody of what we're supposed to say according to the American TV & Film media.

I thought he was trying to insult the Brits(in a freindly sort of way), I just didn't think it worked.

Apparently "blimey" comes from "blind me"..."cor blimey" is a corruption of "God blind me".
There you go...that's that cleared up then...
Time for some tiffin I believe...

How spiffing! There's always time for tiffin!
The only time I've even remotely thought to use the complain button was with paiktis' incessant trolling and bad taste remarks on the "helicopter" thread.
I certainly wouldn't use it for a throw-away remark such as the one LaRusso used. It made me laugh at the stupidity of it

You would not say that if you had looked at the alternative at the last General Election.

Thats what the ignore feature is for. My ignore list currently stands at one LOL. I have never complained about anyone ever and would have found the original comments not that funny but certainly unobjectionable

Would you Adam and Eve it! Who got their Alan Whickers in a twist over this?
I find it hard to believe that English people complained about that comment in the first post. Look at this thread and you can see we really don't care and love self-mocking.
