Life after death: exists?
This has been discussed over and over, but the discussion
seems to stand still at the moment, but maybe these
scientists at: http://www.liberfoundation.com/pressroom.htm
have found something to give some meat to the discussion.
I myself is a believer, do you think there is something
beyond the short lifespan we have here on earth?

Six years ago, Liber foundation scientist Nicolas Gisin who at the time researched in the fields of subatomic particles and electromagnetic spectrums. Found something very interesting. It involved how energy wavicles with their tiny vibrating entities interact with photons of light that humans release when they die.
Sounds like the worst pile of nonsense I ever read. Beats even Dubya's speeches.

Could you pick a worse place to ask this question ?
What do you expect from Radical Liberal Communist Atheists ?

BTW, "YES".

I believe in death after life

Seriously I don't know. I believe in spirits and apparitions but they could well be something like residual energies left around.

My philosophy on religion is I don't know, there is no way I can know, so I may as well try and be a good person and live my life properly, then see what happens.

There is a contradiction here.

The thread title is "Poll: Life after death: exists?", implying that there is a poll on whether we believe that there will be life after death.

But the actual poll question is "Is a life after you die possible?". What if you believe it's possible, but not that it actually exists?

I honestly find it amazing that we as a species have created such elaborate systems of invisble men in the sky, and a wonderful life after we die, all to overcome the pain and hardships of life.

it's trite and overplayed, but religion is the opiate of the masses.

When you die, it's "game over". That's all.
Of course it's not a very pleasant thought when you become older, so i suppose i'll maybe think differently later.

I believe that my soul, my soul, whatever you call it, I think of it as the word ME will continue to exist after my body has passed its prime.

There have been plenty of leftists who believe in the afterlife. The example I'm thinking of is Bill Burroughs, who wrote some excellent texts on the stuff. Check out "The Western Lands".

I refuse to believe that I can cease to be. I just find it impossible. My body has an expiration date - I do not.

"Life after death is as improbable as sex after marriage!" - Mrs. White in Clue

Yes, there's life after death. My rotting corpse will give life to all the wormies and things that will be nourished by it.

Other than that--probably not.

IMHO in these days the question should be:

Is possible life before death?

BTW: No.

I plan on having sex after marriage...
Interesting dimension to that allegory - some ONLY have sex after marriage!
Perhaps some people only truly live in death? Interesting idea.

It's like Reese Witherspoon says in Freeway - "I reckon all I really need to continue is my will".
My will. My will I consider undying. If the universe plans on snuffing this sucker, they have a fight on their hands.

That sounds nice, but since death causes the cessation of brain function, and no one has been able to explain how a consciousness can exist sans brain function--not to mention a physical, conscious body--then I don't see any basis for it.

Not to belittle this discussion, but that article was awful... Did the author even know how to formulate a sentence. Utter crap.

As for life after death... I vote Banana.

My explanation is that the brain alone cannot create the individuality that we all have. The brain is a tool for the heightened consciousness we all have.
How does it do it? Well, you have to be a guy who can take a leap of faith, I guess. I personally have no trouble with that.

Of course. They may have similar personalities, and identical appearances, but they are individuals. Or do you suppose to tell me that identical twins NEVER DISAGREE?

ok, when one person becomes two in the womb they are assigned seperate souls.

now, if there was a matter duplication device (or a malfunctioning transporter ala star trek), and i walked into it, and two of me walked out, would we have two distinct souls?

Give it up.
Atheists can't grasp the concept of souls.
As far as Boris, he's so positive that God's condemning him to Hell-fire, he'd never admit the possibility of eternity.
