July 1941: The retreat begins (Turn 2 Save Thread)

following the German attack on the Soviet union, a realignment of allainces occurs.. The British, who have been fighting the germans since 1939 now find themselves allied with the Soviet Union. Churchill, though staunch anti-communist, declares: "If Hitler invaded Hell I would make at least a favorable reference to the Devil..." The Atlantic charter is signed to provide military aid from the UK to the soviet Union. Merchant vessels, loaded with heavy equipment, assemble near scotland and prepare to make the dangerous journey to Murmansk.

Masses of panic-stricken civilains crowd the roads of western urkrain belorussia and lithuania, fleeing the german advance. some local population groups receive the germans as liberators, thinking themselves freed from stalin's tyranny, but the illusion is short lived... Simultaneously, the Soviet war government starts orchestrating the systematic relocation of people and machinery from western cities to the small towns in the ural mountain region, east of moscow, to prepare for a protracted war effort.

Commanders: I am expecting orderly withdrawls from conflict with the germans and the preperation of defensive positions far to the rear. To that end, I am giving you more cities to command deeper in the rear so that you may prepare your defenses.

Murmansk Front: UK and Archangel given over to you.
Baltic Front: Tikhvin added
Northwest Front: Kholm, Demyansk given to your authority
Belarussian Front: Kaluga and Tula given to you along with the everything west of the fortifications outside of Moscow
1st Ukranian Front: Bryansk, Kursk, Kharkov, Belgorovod, Serafomovich and Voronezh given to your command.
2nd Ukranian Front: Stalino, Kotelinikovo, Voroshilovgrad, Krasnodar, Rostov, Stalingrad, Batum and Novorissiysk now fall under your control.

The economic commissar is charged with the development of the cities of Tbilisi, Maikop, Baku, Grozny, and Stavropol. The armaments commissar is charged with supplying labor brigades to the area where the economic commissar will take control of them.

Don't forget to be selling those city improvements, and husband those expensive units until the winter months when they will be more effective. We need more refugees being built as well, otherwise the urals will never be developed as well as we need them.

Economic Minister: Is it a good idea to hold on to the money we make right now? The germans are taking our cities and capturing booty, let's not give them more than we have to

Any chance of the Gomel commander sending up the Howizer to Smoelnsk? If you do move it past the red army unit and then get the red army unit to pillage the road. If not pillage the road wiht the unit on the forest with 1/3 mv left.

I have decided to retain sewers, etc in areas that have high-growth potential.

Big cities with heavy production is what I desire...

A few extra additions in my report to the Marshal.

Urgently need Airbase in Stavropol...
Saved refugees from nazis in Riga...Which is about to fall to the enemy...
Moved many fleeing refugees east...I plan to move them to the Urals.

Many Soviet people are heading for safety in Stalingrad, Kalinin, and towards Uralsk.

I noticed the evidence of many heroic struggles against the enemy by our brave Red Army!

The battle will be hard but the triumph will belong to mother Russia!

Onward Comrades!

Talinn and Pskov evacuated, road to Narva and Luga pillaged.

600,000 rubles saved trough the selling of factories/refineries and naval installations in various cities (who says we need a naval yard in narva?).

I once again request that the AA battery being built in Novgorod should be rush built (cost 246,000 rubles if you don't incremeantaly rush buy. In that case it would be 106), within short the Novgorod-Luga region will be constantly harassed by Stukas.

The red navy in the baltic has been used to evacuate troops on the islands of Dagö and Ösel off the estonian coast.

Recomendation for the general leading the murmansk front:
Though it is not really my front, I would recomend pillaging the road connecting Viipuri and Helsinki at (39,39).

I've taken the liberty to see to it that the refugees homed to Talinn where rehomed to Leningrad (or they'd get disbanded when the Germans take the city, I expect the refugees to get rehomed again when you move them out of Leningrad though).

General advice to all commanders, please save your tanks, they'll turn into valuable units later. I noticed they where used to pillage roads at some fronts

I plan to use the Refugees to boost my ural cities and perhaps make one or two new cities in the rear...

Our t-26's had to be sacrified due to the lack of reinforcments arriving at the front (rush buys t-34's AA)
we cannot have minsk falling to soon before units are moved up a bit.

PS commanders try to repost the saved file again ASAP when you take it out ie within a few hours, you can always do your planning on a previous posted one.

Obi one - The murmansk front can be held just with defense if need be, pillage the first square toward Helsinki and kill any unit that stands outside a city if its a guareenteed win ie attack 7 vs def 3 etc.

Having trouble with the save. I don't seem to get tanks, so I will need to get the Units.gif for Red Front as well as the Rules.txt

My apologies to colwyn, et al.

HTower, please use the save and pillage the front in the places specified until I can download these two portions of Red Front as to not delay the game any further.

It may be better for me to resign from a front command and let one of the other eager turks take over.
