CIV III German edition
Hi,

Is it possible to play the German editionof CIV III in English...i.e can you select language of choice when you start the game or would you need an English edition or English lib, civlopedia, text etc files to get the game to work in English. And if so are these files freely available to download?

Thanks for your replies

I do not think that local game versions can be delocalized; else it would have no sense to produce localized patches.

In the Spanish version you can open save game of any version. In addition, you can install the patch 1.21f on the Spanish version, but it translates the game to the English and you need a NO-CD to play.

Hello para,

Sorry if i didnt make myself clear in my post...i had an opportunity to purchase a German version. Unfortunately that opportunity has now passed

My question still hasnt been answered tho?! Can you with/without necessary files play CIV III in English with the std German edition or do you need the english txt files. Is this all that is required?

Furthermore is it legal to do this conversion on CIV III?

I have the German .GER and .FRE files for CIV II if you wish? They were included in a patch i downloaded somewhere....

You can get the text files such as Civilopedia and advisor/diplomacy texts from anyone with an English version. If you get a .bic file, unit and stuff names will also be in English.

Legality issues are like this, it's illegal to transfer any game-files to other people, even if you both own the game, well, AFAIK. I believe, though, that in this case even Firaxis and Infogrames would agree there's nothing wrong.
