Your Fallout (1&2) Characters.
Hi. Here's a thread for all of us fallout fans that enjoyed the game a lot, and are slowly dying, waiting for no.3 to hit the darwing board.

I think Fallout is widely acknowledged as a great game, probably one of the best games in history. Therefore, I thought it deserved a thread of it's own.

So we'll start with this simple issue. What were your characters?

My first character in Fallout 1 was Dalgetti.
he was strong, smart, but not agile, charismatic, or endurant.
he was gifted, and was a fast shooter, and he was good with small arms, unarmed combat, and stealing.
Don't ask. He was lousy, and I had very much trouble getting alone with him as my "hero".

Then, in Fallout, i had myself, "David".

David is:

Strong-7
not with a good endurance ( I suck at running)-5
a mediocre perception- 6
but I am rather charismatic- 8
and Very smart ( )- 9
My agility is a 7, and my Luck is 6.

My traits were: Gifted and Heavy Handed, and my tag skills were Unarmed, Science, and Speech.

Now, I am building a new charcter, a woman. she's going to be smart, will have a sex appeal, and will be a kick ass shot.

Oh, and btw, rants are welcome.

My first character eh...i can't really remeber that well..
In FO1 I know i had the Fast Shot trait, my tag skills were Small Guns, Barter and i think Steal or Speech. Later in the game i also chose the Tag! perk, and chose Energy Weapons.
My main attributes were Agility (just below 9 AP's) , Perception and Intelligence. I also chose the Gifted triat quite often.
What i would do later in the game was get the Turbo Plasma rifle, get the Gain Agility, Action Boy and Bonus Rate of Fire perk, getting me a total of 10 APs, and with the fast shot, it only took me 2 APs to fire the Plasma Rifle
I never got into big guns, throwing stuff, or unarmed in FO1, in FO2 however unarmed was fun .
Also in FOT throwing Grenades was great if it was just you against a horde of supermutants.

I can't remember the specifics, but I tended towards Perception and Agility and picking pockets in FO2

I don't remember my FOI character at all... but I know in 2 I worked on perception until I had one wicked son-of-a-b**** sniper who could shoot the eyes out of a deathclaw at 500 yards. Now that was useful.

funny, I was never the perception man, myself. Charisma, and Intelligence for me, couple with a great knowledge of operating Light Support weaponary. . I just love the way parts of the flesh are torn out, and reveal the ribcage.

My character in fallout 1 was a damn reloading thief, and i'm only slightly ashamed to admit it.

My fallout 2 character was one bad mutha fooker. went for 9 agility from the start, with high intelligence. For perks i think i had the skill that gives you a plus 1 to all abilities, and I had the fast shot as well. Named im Drake.

Tagged skills were small arms and big guns, don't remember the third. Equipment was a fast shot good damage pistol in one hand, and the biggest damn gun i could find in the other. I found the bozar down a mine shaft after fighting my way past a robot, and that was my second favorite gun of the game. I got my first gaus pistol by nailing an Enclave patrol with that bozar.

Eventually I found the Alien blaster, and trained up my energy skill. I think I ended up with 12 aps, and the gun used 2 to fire. I recall quite a few battles where I turned six folks to dust before my enemy had even fired.

i don't really remember my fallout characters too good either, but i do know that in both games they were snipers with high critical hit rates. snipers were just so powerful for combat! i do remember trying other skills but sheer killing power is always useful while the other skills weren't always(just like deus ex).

sniping was better than rockets/chain guns since the damage was on par or better(especially when targeting weak areas of the body) and you never got hit back yourself since you were so far away. it was pretty ridiculous after i got a good gun. i remember literally being able to kill everything everywhere without breaking a sweat. i wish it the fallouts had been a bit better balanced in regards to sniping.

I've played both many times. A Gifted Sniper was always my first choice, but I thoroughly enjoyed being a charismatic thief, a stupid thug and other assorted personalities while trying to crack all the side quests and game features.

Who's your favourite sidekick?
for me, Cassidy, in FO2. hands down. I gave the guy a Pancor Jackhammer, and a thousand shells, dressed him in power Armor, and..... Vroom.

Oh, those idiots. . . .

When I met up with Sulik, I thought he was a handy fellow to have a round. Then I met Vic, and gave him a shotugn. I don't think Vic much cared for Sulik, because he was constantly emptying his shotgun into Sulik's back. Then I gave Sulik an SMG and he started to return the favor. I must have reloaded a thousand times to keep those morons alive. And then I met Cassidy. And he started nailing BOTH of them at the same time.

I got so sick of those buggers I just took them all to San Fran and dumped them there. Did the same with all the other characters, so I could nab them if I needed em. Never did though. Played the rest of the game solo.

I used the sidekicks as pack mules, gave them a guns that didn't have a burst option and had them snipe at the enemy and run away as soon as possible.

Mules, heh. I considered them vaults and had them hold so much stuff they couldn't move. Most of it was just junk though.

Did anyone else go through all the trouble to get the combat implants? I recall having a horrible time scrounging up enough cash to pay the doc. Items weren't a problem, finding enough money was.

Ever sell a gaus rifle for 2000 bucks? I did. . . .

Need some cash? hang around on trade routes, and pick up goodies from people that pass by. My car trunk is now full of that crap. Assault Rifles, 10mm pistols, crowbars .

I let Vic have a FN FAL night scope rifle. The guy is such a loser. He became quite a liability lately..

Dogmeat. I try not to take him ( you can have him in FO2 too! ), so I he wouldn't get killed.

I played Fallout 2 first. I have never played a RPG game before (and I don't play them now either) but the game kicked me off the chair.. actually, glued me to the chair would be a better word

I played with the default character, big dumb guy named... I forgot, something with N or B. He was strong, but not very smart. I remember my talking ability after taking some drug deteriorated so I could only say 'humbrhummsmpfff' and stuff like that

Of the character traits I remember Agility the most. Man, with the perks you could build it up to 12 (or more?) if you started out with max.

You know what 12 means, right? Two weapons on burst mode!

Extraordinary.

Afterwards I played Fallout 1. Not bad, but not as impressive.

I would like to se Fallout 3 ofcourse. I admire people who can play 1 or 2 all over again, I can't do that, although I probably havent explored half of the game options.

I always gravitate towards sniper characters.

2 key differences. In fallout one I went for energy weapons

but in fallout 2 as soon as I got the gauze rifle I stayed with small arms. use that puppy against the eyes for some good results.

I'm in a fallout 2 game right now and I'm determined to specialize in heavy weapons and unarmed.

My favorite Fallout II character was the guy with an intelligence of 1. He couldn't communicate with anybody, other than Torg. It made the game pretty difficult, seeing as how I couldn't trade with anybody, or have any other members in my party, or talk to anybody, etc.

I also liked my guy with Luck 1. People would occasionally explode around me, since bad luck is catching.

I usually like large weapons. First I use the SMG, but as soon as I get to the NCR, I usually steal a bazaar from one of the guards, and after that it all goes very well.

Also, I remember the very first game I played of Fallout 2... I was so pissed off that my village was destroyed, that when I came to Navarro, I killed everybody there. It took me about a week real-world time, and countless years game time (going in, bazaar a-blazing, then coming out to sleep and heal for a couple of weeks ), but every single person in the underground, as well as the verti-base was destroyed. After that, I had a virtually endless supply or guns, ammo, armour and everything one might ever wish for. When I cam to San Fran after that, I could buy out everything, by just going back to the now empty Navarro, and load my car full of stuff, and then bartering it in at the SF shops.

I never managed to get the car in like four or five times playing. But that's just because I'm too sloppy in playing.

I like the car, as that allows you to carry tons of junk. Though I do usually manage to fill up the trunk any way...

Also, this thread got me thinking about Fallout again. So, I dug the CD out and installed it. Now, on the jewel case it says you can even marry someone in the game. I was wondering has anyone ever done that? 'Cause I haven't. I guess that's because I usually choose male characters and there aren't many girls in the game. But any way, how would one go about that?

It's in one of the early towns. I think the one with the Ghost Farm. Moddock or something. You have to talk to the son or daughter of the guy who hires you to kill the wolves. IIRC.

I tried it, but ended up getting in a fight with her father instead.

I don't recall where, but a guy has both a son and a daughter that your character can marry. I remember having a female character marry the daughter

Aha. Curious. But I figured I'd replay Fallout 1 first, as I have never finished it yet. I have spent all this time playing Fallout 2.
