I have an authentic copy of CtP2 with the newest official patch, running on Win XP Pro, and I haven't encountered any problems. What's your problem precisely? The game crashes?

Yup, basically CtP2 should work fine in XP, unless I have a very weird version of CtP2 (or WinXP)

You could try running ctp2.exe in Win98 compatibility mode. If that doesn't work, more details on what error you get (if anything), etc would indeed be useful...

alby, are you running any Mods? If so i would do a complete re-install of CTP2 and the Mod pack+any other files you might need, like the patch etc(after deleting all the old ones first). Turn of all other programs so nothing but CTP2 is running and try again.
I had a bit of a struggle getting it all to run properly in the begining, mostly it was to do with unzipping the Mod files. But don't give up just yet!
Oh and your english is 100% better than my Italian!

My version doesn't work either- it's heavilly modded though. (something like a cradle/apolton pack/multiple slcs/heaps of my own mods). It crashes when i hit a goodie hut or after a few turns.....help?
