With the region-wide crisis over Sheepstan nuclear exports and the legality of it's military junta continuing, the Chimerican Corporate Council today announced the beginning of a new emergency buildup by the military, involving equipment modernisation among many sectors, the expansion of the regular army, and the formation of new irregular groups to carry out guerilla warfare and covert operations against enemies. Defence Ministry spokesmen have also stated that the ground part of the Chimerican ABM system was to be expanded and tightened to help protect against nuclear attack. This is to be funded by a large increase in the Chimerican military budget, which recently hit a new high with the adoption of this year's national budget.

...Meanwhile, rumours in Centralis continue to build that the government is in the midst of a major military operation. Senior members of governments have been completely absent from public for the past three days, while there have been unconfirmed reprots of large troop movements within the Special Security Zones that house most of the Centralian military. However, when asked to comment upon this, a harassed-looking government Press Officer flatly refused to make any statements whatsoever.
