Sure it's a double standard. I never professed to be better than anyone else in that regard.

All these 24 hour "news" stations with the possible exception of "Headline News" (I don't watch enough to know) are ~90% commentary/debate and ~10% actual news. CNN, MSNBC, and Fox have a bunch of talking head shows because their ratings would suck if all they did was repeat news stories over and over all day long. CNN is the most liberal, MSNBC tries to have some balance and Fox leans to the right of both, but as far as I'm concerned, they're all left wing outlets. The "debate" on these shows is not about limiting the fed to it's constitutional limits, but about how much more and faster we should embrace socialist and quasi-socialist policies.

Uh WOW! Anyone who views Fox news as liberal is so far out there I don't even know what to think. Are you basicly in favor of abolishing taxation and the government? What's scary is you don't even seem to recognize that your position is extreme.

My opinion:

CBS: Liberal
ABC: Liberal
BBC: Liberal
CNN: Moderate
NBC: Moderate
FOX: Conservative
US Public Radio: Depends on state, Minnesota Public Radio is liberal.

Since when, exactly, did describing people who disagree with the administration as "sickening" become reasoned, principled political opinion, as opposed to mouth-breathing, knuckle-dragging, uber-jingoistic horseshit?

Uh WOW! Did I say Fox was liberal or that government should be abolished? I said these "news" stations were left and that Fox was to the right of CNN and MSNBC. They are left and liberalism is just one ideology on the left, I never see any of these stations advocating a return to the Constitution, they ALL consistently push for increases in federal control over our lives, they just don't all agree on which increases we need. When was the last time any of these stations seriously promoted the notion that the New Deal or Great Society should be repealed? All we get from them is fine tuning, i.e., "reforming" current big government programs. Btw, I'm well aware my views are "extreme" and that most people are far to my left, so unless you can actually quote me saying I thought my views were "mainstream", maybe you should stick with what I've said instead of fabricating strawmen.

Don't mind him. He thinks anyone to the left of him economically (ie, just about everyone) is a liberal.

Were Dan Rather or Tom Brokaw given segments in which to espouse their own political views, do you think that would be a reasonable way of presenting information to the public?
Well don't they? I mean, NBC News' "Fleecing of America" really approaches editorial work, but under the guise of 'news'.

Imran is correct, they do often throw in editorial segments at the end of their news. NBC has fleecing of America, ABC has John Stossel, and CBS has Andy Rooney

George! Where have you been!?

"I thought his remarks were right on target."

That Cavuto guy is a clown. No more to say.

"Still haven't seen you attacking CNN for blatant pandering to Saddam (pulling news stories and the like from reprisal fears)."

Yes, CNN sucks. Many ways - like pandering to Bush, by eliminating critical passages from a Blix report on their website. Please.

There isn't much difference between CNN or Fox. It's funny how you can get so excited about it. Both are jingoistic and crappy. Fox is just more blatant about it.

"You showed me you were full of **** with your Bagdhad thread."

Oh, did I hurt your nationalist feelings? I could say you're full of it for your inspirational story thread. Just accept that your pro-US bias is just that, a bias, not objective.

"You're just still pissy that we won and that the Iraqi people loved it."

Darling, hate to break this to you, but you've won nothing and are on track of losing more. The Iraqis love you so much that Mr Garner had to be removed from the country, for fear of being loved to death, I presume?

Either that or the few solid cable news programs should stick with news and let their commentator and talk-show brethren (which dominate cable anyway) do the editorializing instead of the anchor(s) spouting off.

Nah, I acknowledge that most conservatives are to my left as well, but the fact they have more in common with liberals than the Founders hardly indicates they are right wing.

Berzerker, so your position is that since conservatives in the year 2003 has more in common with liberals living in the year 2003 than the founding fathers who lived in 1774, that defines their ideology?

What about me then? I have significantly more in common with modern social democrats than I have with king Gustav III - does that make m a socialist? I sincerely hope not, since I left the bloody country to escape the socialists...

Anyway, the point is that you can't really define the ideology by 230 year old standards (unless you interpret "conservative" literally, in which case you can't juxtaposition it with "liberal" anyway).
