I will respond to your criticisms to, but I will when I have the time. I'm working on some projects that perhaps even the SG's may grudgingly admit into the academy.
No problem... it's a big game file with a lot of cities and units to sort out, so it takes time. Keep us updated.

Criticism and counter criticism is the fun part

Now, I'm off to play the 'silly rules' turns that I've been mulling over for a week...

1. atomant
2. Jrabbit
3. OldnSlow
4. SG(2)
5. STYOM
6. Bob_Smurf42
7. sirsnuggles
8. SCG
9. La Fayette

Thanks Six, I'll play this weekend, but right at this moment, I'm off to watch the big Washington-Ohio St. game. I'm a Husky alum, so I'm rootin' for the upset.

1872: Sirsnuggles looks at the Empire and just shakes his head. “Oh well”, he says, “I’m too unmotivated to change things now…who wants to swim upstream when a whale is rushing downstream.”

1873: Paratroopers discovered. Labor Union sought.
Vladivostok captured.
Madras purchased for 4600 gold. Copernicus’ Observatory captured.
Karachi purchased for roughly 2500 gold.
Indian ambassador sues for peace, and his wish is granted in exchange for the removal of Indian forces.

Rushed a number of airports.

Bermuda to Bangalore: 162 gold.
Dijon to Bangalore: 687 gold.
Grenoble to Bangalore: 268 gold.
Chartres to Bangalore: 707 gold.

1874:
Tax rate changed: 4/3/3

Kharkov captured.
Madrid captured.

1875: SETI program completed.
We discover Labor Union something and started researching rocketry.
Bristol to Bangalore: 687 gold.
Orleans to Bangalore: 263 gold.
Marseille to Bangalore: 734 gold.
Reims to Bangalore: 299 gold.
Lyons to Bangalore: 326 gold.

Science rate moved to 40%, so as to discover tech next turn.

1876: Rocketry discovered. Pursue Nuclear Fission.
Toledo captured.
Seville captured.
Saragossa captured.
Dnepropetrovsk captured.
Grozny captured.
Shanghai captured.

Suburbia to Bangalore: 287 gold.
Lyons to Bangalore: 814 gold.

Chinese city of Sticky Mouse discovered. Hmmm….somebody’s been altering the city file. I wonder who?

1877: Indians violate peace treaty.

Cherbourg to Bangalore: 228 gold.
Punjab to Kolhapur: 11 gold.

Valencia captured.
Cuidad Rogrigo destroyed.
Lahore captured.
Indians sue for peace, request granted in exchange for troop withdrawal.

Numerous transports being disbanded in favor of airports. All those rectangular boats make me dizzy. There you go Six!

1878: Something discovered, and something new researched.
Rhodes to Bangalore: 664 gold.
Plainsville to Bangalore: 231 gold.
Little China to Bangalore: 200+ gold.
Zimbabwe to Bangalore: 444 gold.
Poitiers to Bangalore: 334 gold.
Paris to Bangalore: 326 gold.
Plainsville to Bangalore: 231 gold.
Amiens to Bangalore: 251 gold.

Chengdu captured.

The enemy is falling so quickly that I’m becoming bored to tears, and playing on automatic.

1879: Something else discovered. Now researching laser.
Marseille to Bangalore: 339 gold.
Montreal to Bangalore: 238 gold.
Free Parking to Bangalore: 364 gold.
Luxury Tax to Bangalore: 48 gold.
Bermuda to Bangalore: 734 gold.

Barcelona captured.
Cadix captured.
Nanking captured.

The Great Southern Fleet (bound for China) departs from Ibabanaga. My successor will get to have with these units.
The Great Southern Fleet consists of:
1 Aircraft Carrier (the RFS Sirsnuggles)
3 Bombers
3 Fighters
2 Helicopters
1 Battleship
1 Aegis Cruiser
2 Cruisers
2 Transports with:
5 Armor
3 Cavalry
1 Artillery
4 Howitzers
3 Spies

4 additional bombers, 1 fighter, and 4 paratroopers already exist in China.

1880:
Paoting purchased for 650 gold.
Smolensk purchased for (oh no, I forgot how much; about 600 gold).
Moscow captured.
Granada captured.
Malaga captured.
Minsk purchased for 650 gold.
St. Petersburg captured.

About 1200 gold in trade bonuses from various places.

Well, my turns are done. I just about fell asleep. The game is too easy right now. Tanks against warriors…oh my.

Wow guys, this round nearly put me to sleep.

Umh…I think I captured/purchased about 25 cities; 3 Russian, 1 French, 8 Spanish, 12 Chinese, and 8 Indian cities remain. For a grand total of 32 cities. My successor should get real close to ending this game. I left him with a large air force, half of which I didn’t get to use.

And it looks like SCG is up. Bring us home man!

Ship chain is a mess. I started ignoring it, because it was too tedius. You won't need it anyway. The Russians, Spanish, and and Indians are within reach. The French exist in an encased zoo, and I built you an airforce to destroy the Chinese with.

And, don't forget the key rule (aside from no building Engineers!) - play 15 turns or until an AI is eliminated.

Lazy types could capture the last French city and be done in a turn

This one is moving slowly. SCG seems to have vanished.

In his absence, La Fayette is up.

1. atomant
2. Jrabbit
3. OldnSlow
4. SG(2)
5. STYOM
6. Bob_Smurf42
7. sirsnuggles
8. SCG
9. La Fayette

I hope nobody minds if I leave SG(2) in the playlist, so that his contributions will not be forgotten.

High Priest Ben La Fayette comes to power and notices that :
1) We have a nice mixture of all kinds of weapons, but only 9 howies.
2) The slider is still at 30% science.

Therefore Ben La Fayette decides to turn science to zero (we have almost finished researching The Laser and there are lots of freights to deliver to Bangalore, size 23) and build howies and engineers (that's all we need, apart from a few transports).

Press enter.

1881: 39 howies instead of 9, that's better
We take 5 cities for a start.

1882 to 1886: our valiant howies take the remaining foreign cities (with kind help from the various weapons built previously), apart from 2 Chinese cities that Ben LF leaves to his successor.

(Remus and Romulus happy to rule (almost) the whole map)

(LF leaving the glory to his successor)

In fact I should have destroyed only ONE civ.
Here is a save with several civs left, if my successor prefers to play it that way.

Well done

You broke the rule, yes. However, since atomant is away, it's just Jrabbit and OldnSlow on the list before it comes to me, and it probably doesn't matter the rule was broken, because:

Considering that the 'several AIs left' save is only 2 turns prior to the '2 cities left' save, I suspect that if we adhered strictly to the rule, there would be only 1 turn to play for each of the remaining players, and that is hardly worthwhile, IMO.

So hopefully I'm not treading on any toes when I ask Jrabbit to take us through the homestretch in this one, to play 3 turns or 1 turn as he chooses, but in any case, to assimilate those pesky AIs and end the game

Play list:

1. atomant
2. Jrabbit
3. OldnSlow
4. SG(2)
5. STYOM
6. Bob_Smurf42
7. sirsnuggles
8. SCG
9. La Fayette

... and if Jrabbit chooses the '2 cities' option, his turn shouldn't be more than a few minutes long

This game needs completion, and I see no reason to apply revisionist history to M. La Fayette's display of tactical might. (We could do with a juicier turnlog, though, mon ami.)

So I'll play the pro forma endgame only.
D/L'ing the 1886 save...

The Finale
The year is 1886, and BunnyBoy is installed as Lord Protector. He finds a vast global realm of over 63 MM ppl spread across 140+ cities. Immediately, he diverts the entire treasury of 13K+ to his personal accounts for "safekeeping."

The only non-Barren Burb cities remaining are Chinese -- Kaifeng and Tientsin. Troops are moved into place to affect their proper conversion.

Luxuries are moved to 80%.

1887
--We learn Plastics, start Recycling (only available tech ).
--A few hundred GP, an advanced tribe, and some barbs come from various accessible huts.
--66 cities declare We The Lord Protector Day!
--Kaifeng and Tientsin are assimilated.
--Doctors advise Lord Protector BunnyBoy that continued use of the spacebar will result in repetitive motion syndrome, so he retires.

SCORE = 2,832 (369%)
POPULATION = 67,500,000
TREASURY = 17,623 GP
CITY COUNT = 144

We will be remembered as Lord Protector Romulus & Remus The Magnificent.

Great game, all...

The save didn't appear in my corporate email basket today. I'll post it as soon as I can get it here to zip in PC mode (for anyone who cares to view the endgame position).

(Edited for "typose")

Magnificent is the word

Good game, all. 'Twas a real pain in the *** in the beginning, but we soldiered through.
