My only concern would be if people start doing this with 20-30 settlers a turn, it will add alot of time.

It is not so slow. Just click the Settler just after order.

ST.....all those extra moves compound as the game enteres the middle stages.....the game is slow enough as we all max out trade and vans.... this would by itself not add much time, but with everything else, think of it as the straw that might break the camels back

Yes with Deity moving 105 camels and Horse moving 105 crusaders we don't need them stuffing with settlers as well

Ok, myself, atawa, slow don't seem to have any problem with it. War, CW, Hydey seem to not like it.

Can we get some definative opinions here? and hear from others. like ming barono berz etc.

RAH votes YES. I don't see it slowing the game. And if we say no, what are we saying about preworked settlers, which is somewhat the same strain?

May as well allow it; I don't think it will add much time to turns.

the preworked set is very specific.... i am not saying NO....i am just saying that it could very easily slow the game down

but if you put it in the preworked set category, then we have to allow it or ban the preworked set..unless u are going to use two and make an instant fort anyways

I wouldn't say they're the same, but the concept is similar.

I would be happy for it to be used but if it then slowed the game we could ban it at a latter date.

I don't think you'll notice a difference because people that move fast will still move fast and the slower ones will still move slower. This will be such a small part of a persons turn, you won't know. I don't see it adding more than a couple of clicks every few turns for me. I do intend to use a pair of settlers for roading through tough terrain though.

Yes, but since it takes more than 1 turn, you're still losing out. After the first turn it reverts back to normal so you should be reseting them every turn.

Come on, quit whining, in a normal game, how many squares do you terraform, 2,3? this won't add any effort.

I have no problem with pre worked settlers for forts... but this seems to take it a step further and add "some" time to the game. I could go either way, but I would say no with the exception of fortress building...

Yeah... I know it doesn't make sense, and both are the same... I just don't like the sound of waking up settlers every turn just so you have to order them again next turn.

You'll just clear them when you give them their work order. It won't add much time for the 8 times you do it in the course of one game.

Yep... you have to clear the work order... and then on the next turn, cycle through the settlers again, and give them the same order... again... and again... and again... and again... and again

And how many settlers do you have doing that type of improvements? 2 or at most 4. It's the caravans that slow down the turns.

i agree caravans slow the game down, so does the hutfinder, etc....... so adding more things is a no no to me

Yeah... caravans add a lot of time. But we saw what happens when they are removed (civ III).

I prefer having the caravans

how does the hutfinder slow down the game, people only use it when it is someone elses turn.

It does slow things down on the first few turns when people find their first huts... while we try to use it between turns, the turns are so quick, they get back to you before you see what you want to see. After that, it doesn't slow the game down at all. And it's a ton faster than going through your old graph paper maps to match up the pattern
