Suggestions:

Future Base Sites:
SW of the South Borehole.
1W of the North Western Borehole.
3W of the North Western Borehole.
SE of the Southern Nut. Bonus, on the tile our scout is currently on.

Former Orders:
Mir Lab: Move along the river towards the Nut. Bonus. Start building a Forest.
Zoloto Gold: Start leveling the Rocky/Nut. Bonus.
Uni Base: Move South to build Sensor on South Base site.

Scouts:
NW: Begin moving back down to garrison Uni. Base. Should arrive 1 turn before pop growth, providing police to allow it to work the Rocky/Min/Road square to speed completion of Rec. Commons.
NE: Continue moving NE for exploration.
E: Move East to pop remaining Pod Next Turn.
S: Attempt to move south through fungus.

Foil:
Move out of the bay towards open sea, looking for pods.

Well, it looks like somebody else will have to play this turn (and subsequent ones too, until I can figure out what's wrong) - I played it just fine, and got the screenshots and everything, but when I tried to save, the game tried to make me save onto the CD-ROM, which (predictably) didn't work, can it's now trying to make me load it off the CD-ROM too.

Ah yes, the save to CD Rom thing. I know how to fix it. In the place for the file name, type in C:, and it'll move you to your root C directory.

  • We discovered Secrets of the Human Brain.
  • This allowed our researchers to realise the necessity of an Industrial Base.
  • The Foil went a little off course accidently (Damn little brothers messing with the keypad), but it turned out to be fortunate. We discovered a pod on land that we would not have seen otherwise, and would've had to backtrack for.
  • West Scout moved South towards this new pod with changed orders.
  • NE Scout now in visible distance from our NE border. Appears closer than what it should be (6 tiles from nearest instead of 8).
  • All else as planned.

Add the following line to your alphacentauri.ini file (right above "preferences") and you'll replace that clumsy Firaxis save system with a conventional windows system (essential for me as I run 3 versions of smax in 3 different directories):

Excellent. Our most valued technology is slowly but surely slipping into our hands. Once our scientists have completed their work on the Industrial Economics program, we should be able to boost our economic and research output by around 50%.

A report detailing the aims and ramifications of this new technology is being prepared as we speak.

In PBEMs many of the ususal single-player notices are either supressed, or appear only at the end of a turn.

Discovery of the various "Secrets" is one of these. (The section from blurbs.txt is:

$ researchers have discovered the $TECH0! The discovery has stimulated a burst of $ research.


Do you wish to make an announcement thru the PUT newspaper, or shall I, as CMN? (As in SP games, it does make a difference in which techs factions choose to research)

Won't do us much good in the short term, and by the time we can use it we'd be able to put these holes down ourselves anyway. It's one of my least favourite landmarks, in fact. I wish we had gotten the Nexus instead, to mitigate our Planet load.
