I miss the easy to edit *.txt files in civ2. the civ3 editing suite looks easier to use, but any change you make is likely to make the game crash.
besides, those text files allow us such absurdities as playing by yourself, or at a couple of difficulty levels above deity. in addition, you could play at deity+2 and tweak the settings so you could have the same as ordinary deity level unhappiness, but the AI gets ridiculous bonuses and the riot level is just unbelievable. I would pray earnestly to stay alive just one more turn and see what happens.
