Problem Starting RON
Oh

I have installed the game but before i actually played it for the first time i thought i would check for patch, yes there was one so i downloaded and installed as well, then i started the game for first time everything was fine, finished playing it for the evening. next day I wanted to play and the game start at all, double click on icon on the desktop few time, try to insert cd and click on play. Finally i decided to reinstall the game and it worked played it once and the same thing happen, it won't start.

Anyone has or had similar problem?

Any ideas how to go about this problem without reinstalling the game every time i would like to play it.

Seeing as how the tech support has been farmed out to Poly and other sites, I'd have to rate it a zero. They could at least hire someone (hint-hint) to go around these boards helping people .

It seems like a patch issue. Maybe you should try downloading it manually from riseofnations.com.

edit: My rant is directed against Microsoft, for its diminishing support services. BHG has been doing a fantastic job with patches so far.

Have you tried it without the patch?

Also, how did you install the patch, via the stand alone, as MattH points to, or through Gamespy? Try installing the patch the opposite way (the auto install through Gamespy?)

Ciao,

my experience (with Pentium 3) is that:
if I open ron from the CD it does not work if the cd is recognised with RON ICON.
IN that case (RON CD is in the "my computer" screen with its icon) it owrks opening with the icon on the desktop.

I know that it is a bit like "if it rains go from CD", if its sunny from the ICON, but you know, this is learning by doing...

Game not starting
I had the same problem. The game starts running up, but then reduces to a button on the task bar and nothing will get it going. My only solution has been to reseat the CD, either in the CR-ROM or my CD/RW burner. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Could it be the CD isn't very good?
