Questions on specials
This question is particularly aimed at St Leo, but if any other can answer, please do!

I am currently working on the map St Leo did for my Discworld scen, and the specials pattern seems to be different than the usual one.

So my questions are:

- if the pattern isn't the usual one, how was it done?

- is there a way to add a special "out of the pattern" on an existing map ??

- is there a way to choose which special appears on a given terrain (for instance, could set it on a definite square so that I get wheat instead of buffalo? or is it pattern related??) ??

In order to change the location of specials, you neeed to load the map into the Civ2 Map Editor and select "Set Resource Seed" from the Tools menu. It's pretty random mind, so you'll have to experiment with various seeds until you get the one you want.

Yes, that's what I thought!

So, if I am not mistaken, with that you can displace the pattern, but yu can't get anything out of the traditional pattern, is that right? or are they different patterns??

Because I think the way the specials look on St-Leo's map is different from it! I'll have to check that...

Thanks for your answer!

The pattern does something of a loop every time you add 16 to the seed. By adding 16, you are keeping position but not the identity of the two resources.
