Virdrago,

Franks are just Frenchmen as it is. One might as well have "Anglo-Saxons" and "Englishmen".

Isreal should be in this time. If you want a mix of new and old Isreal is both. I think they are a must.

the franks might be in, you already have some evolutionary civs in the game...i.e. sumerians->arabs->ottomans. since they already did this the franks could or another ancient civ could be in. but i personally think that would be ridiculous, the israelites definitely need to be in the game

im saying that eventually they all became one another, the sumerians actually fell under control of the babylonians but....in essence they all fell under control of the arabs, which fell under control of the ottomans

What about something to represent Australia, not the modern country, but the Aborigines. They claim with this xp. They want to have some interesting civ's. They would be it.

Actually they did conquer the Gauls, then became the French. In any case they are represented by a civ in the current game.

all of europe's civs are very distinct. a lot of the mid-east civs are blurred and overlap.

I think this thread has kind of gotten a little off topic, but I'll add my 2 cents anyway. First off, I'm not claiming to be any type of history or middle east expert, but the way I understand it is such...historic Babylon is now Iraq, historic Persia is now Iran, and the Arabs are of course Saudi Arabia. Things look a little blurry to we in the U.S. and Europe because of the common religion of the area. But it's no different than how we all look to them because of our common religion.

"maybe cause ur european?"

before we start shooting off random attacks, how about we try reason and logic?

all of the european civs, with just the exception of the Celts, to my knowledge, all fit neatly onto a world map. good luck doing that with babylon, persia, the ottoman empire, arabia, egypt, and whoever else they are going to add in (actualy, all of those except Persia are in Arabia).

and, from a business sense, i assume most buyers of the game are white, and would like to see their ancestors represented, but we wont count that.

edit:

let's not have more confusion, i justified the amount of european civs and questioned the amount of mid-eastern civs. i never made any comment about other American/African/Asian civs.

personally, with how similiar all civs are in general in this game, i dont see why we cant have at least 50 to choose from...

Personally I'd want 8 civs that fill in the world map a little better.

Europe, the middle east and North Africa are fully represented. Just say no to Hittites and Sumerians!

The Eight I'd Choose are from

From sub-saharan Africa:
1. Songhai/Mali/Ghana - home of fabled Timbuktu
2. Ethiopia - long history, rarely colonized
3. Mwenemutapa - the ones who actually built great Zimabwe, traded with China

From South East Asia:
1. Khmer - One of the premier civs in SE Asia, Angkor Wat was supposed to have up to 1 million people
2. Java - influenced most of the area covered by modern day Indonesia

From the Americas:
1. Inca
2. Sioux
3. Brazil (I don't know of any strong non-andean civs, so I went for a modern age one.)

I've noticed a couple of posts that mention Australian civs, however nobody responds to them. Why?? why is such a joke, a lot of people seem to want more american civs, well there were people in Australia and in the australasian region scores of thousands of years before they were in america. The Australian Aboriginies are a perfectly viable option for a civ, another option could be australasian/ south pacific islanders ie maories, tongans, somoans..
If you want a full world map you can't ignore on the largest island on it.

No they weren't. Only North America and Central America. they capture the old territories of the Mayans but the advance to South America was stopped by the Chibchas in Colombia.

Actually I don't see a modern South American nation as a civ. Other civs make important changes in the world or in their region (culture, militarism, etc.) and I don't see any of that in modern S.A. states. Of course they are some betters than others but I'll rather to see Australians or the polynesians (maybe the Pascuenses or Rapa Nuis, from Easter Island).
